  1. No walleye here, pike and musky only exist here in few waters due to introductions. I go to the lake in the photo for the convenience, but lots of rainbows, landlocked Atlantic salmon, burbot, put-and-take brookies and a sparse lake trout population, and bass of course.
  2. Cold? It’s 85 degrees in there with the door open. While your all bumming about the hard water I’ll be in my tax and rent free cabin on the water smackin fish all night long. I like open water better but my boat doesn’t have a bed and a kitchen sink ?
  3. The Maine location lost its bargain cave according to my buddy. I will be making even less trips to the store now.
  4. You guys caught bass in Great East??? ? That’s been a tough lake in my experience. Very beautiful though, I love the clarity.
  5. Hello from another Mainer!
  6. Mousam has a launch at the country store as well. Do you know if that one is usable during the draw-down?
  7. Did you slice the actual wire? From the picture it looks like you just cut the insulation. In that case I would just use a length of marine or underground heat shrink (the self adhesive kind), and call it a day.
  8. Yes, please post an update with your solution! I am in the process of rigging and customising my new-to-me boat for primarily cold water fishing/trolling, and have been scratching my head about fly rod storage. I have some ideas, but would like to see what you come up with.
  9. Nice! Thanks for the tip, I’ll incorporate these into my new boat.
  10. Whoa, Was that pic there before? Nice! That’ll work
  11. Red Don’t need to be, with looks like these ? I haven’t got a hair cut in at least 8 years. Maybe that would’ve been a good time to do it?
  12. I’m still not exactly sure how this happened, but... I was was working on my new-to-me aluminum boat this morning, filling in the rest of the small cavities before I re deck it. I ran out the marine grade foam so I picked up some Great stuff to do the rest of the job. This clearly comes out the can MUCH faster than the previous product. I just got situated to start work, and started releasing the foam into the rib through a hole alittle larger than the straw, and waited until I could start to see it come out of the next hole about 6” away. There must have been a blockage in the rib, and I put waaayyyy wayyy too much in it, because when I pulled the straw out, it erupted like a geyser in one quick blast. It erupted with such force and volume, that the relitively small portion that DIDNT BLAST ME DIRECTLY IN THE FACE stuck to the cieling 8 1/2 feet up off the work surface, and large chunks scattered around a 6’ radius. Yes that’s right, I took most of the blow on the right side of my head, directly in my eye, face, and hair. I was luckily wearing a hat, so the top of my head didn’t get much splatter, but the back of my hair, neck, and ears received a good portion. I ended up throwing my shirt away lol, and spent the next hour in the shower flushing my eye and pulling the stuff out of my hair and skin. It wasn’t a pleasant experience but when I was all done I got a good laugh at myself. I really should’ve been wearing eye protection, like it says on the can, but.... I wasn’t haha. I will from now on though! My eye is just fine now, I was really worried at first because it was wide open at the time, and was basically glued shut for aittle while... Anyways, just a little PSA, careful with your garage work, and don’t underestimate the power of foam!? Just thought I’d share so you all can laugh at my expense. Heres the cieling;
  13. My early PB story was like that; Around the time I first started getting big into fishing, I threw 1 rod in my truck with a ~7” swimbait tied on, my telescoping rubber net, and a small tackle bag, so I could stop at my fav bridge for a few minutes on my way home from running errands. When I finally pulled up to the bridge, I saw another man soaking a bobber at the canoe launch. From where I parked I could no longer see him, because of the overgrown bushes, or I would have waved and said hi. I was was in a rush so I grabbed my gear and headed strait to the opposite side of the bridge from him and threw out my bait. First cast and within 10 seconds I saw the fish come up slam my lure. After some splashing around, I got it in the net and immediately started (semi-calmly) shouting at the man who I could not see, to come over here. He rushed over, not knowing what was going on, to see me lift the net out of the water with the big bass in it and his jaw hit the floor. Without hesitation I handed him my phone to get a quick picture, and then told him to grab the scale out of my bag. It hit 4-12 and was my personal best at the time, and the biggest bass either of us had seen in person lol. I Gently got her back into the water and we got a good laugh over the situation. He had been there for two hours and caught a single small perch. He was amazed I caught a fish on such a big bait, and how it was the first cast. He was nearly as excited as I was, so I didn’t need to apologize for shouted orders at him haha.
  14. Yes the rod is good for both. Weather it’s worth the money is your call
  15. Spare fuses First aid kit Spare tire if it didn’t come with one Flood light I have a cheapo trailer and carry a spare hub assembly on long trips. Shouldn’t be a big concern for your new one though
  16. Great topic, I really had to think about that one. Most of my bucket list has just been trophy sizes of species I already fish for (brookies, salmon, Lakers, bass of course etc..). But one species really stands out to me; The Arctic Char. We have a few native dwarf populations of them here in Maine, but a true far north Arctic Char is on my list for sure. I think Brook Trout IMO are among the most pretty fish in existence (strange tropical fish aside) but a spawning char is right up there if not prettier; My profile pic, just a small yet pretty example of A Brook Trout an Arctic Char off Google;
  17. ??. The way it was worded I had some confusion. Thanks for the clarification.
  18. Thanks @TOXIC, I did see that list, but wasn’t convinced every model of each brand was a yes or no. It’s a ‘76 Starcraft Holiday 14’; I couldn’t find a good pic online, but heres a similar boat; @Catt My other boat was bare aluminum, so I did the whole sanding and etching primer thing. This one has paint that is in pretty good shape. Is it really a big No-No to use the existing paint as a primer (after a good scotchbrite and clean)? *I don’t intend for the boat to be a showroom resto, just functional and a bit personalized. @Fishing Rhino thanks, I’ll check out that 5200
  19. I bought a 2nd “new to me” (basic, Riveted, Deep V aluminum) boat that will be modified. I am in the planning stage right now. I’m hoping some of you might have some insight of what products to use in my situation. I have used the search tool here, but couldn’t find much. I’ve spent the last few nights after work doing research on other forums and watching YouTube videos on the subjects...in other words, wasting 90% of time spent reading arguments and watching Joe Shmo soak foam in plastic tubs.... 1. The previous owner said that the boat does leak just a bit. One product that was recommended for this on here and other forums; about $50 for the can, and made for application from the outside of the aluminum hull over seams and rivets. 2. I haven’t decided if I’m going to go nuts and pull up the factory floor yet. (Flat deck, ~4” off bottom) It feels solid but I haven’t dug into it yet. If I do, I think I will want to spray foam under the floor, unless someone will talk me out of it. But in either case, I will be using at least some canned foam to fill in voids and such when I build compartments. I understand that high density closed cell foam is what you want for marine applications so it won’t absorb water or ~gasoline~ (please verify?) The two products I’ve considered so far are; ~$20 Both products seem to be well suited for the job. 3. My boat is with a mechanic right now or I would take a picture, but has anyone installed a Gator Guard KeelShield on a heavy gauge riveted keel? 4. I will also take hull paint brand recommendations. Probably black FYI Any input on these products, cheaper alternatives, or better alternatives, are highly appreciated! I have a hectic work schedule during the summer, hardly any time to fish, let alone spend hours and hours researching, so I’m hoping for some help from you good folks. Thanks! This isn’t my first boat build, now that I’ve learned from the past, I would like to spend alittle more time with product selection instead of settling with what is available at the home improvement stores ?
  20. I know for a fact IMX Pro has two models available.
  21. Lol there’s a bit of skim reading going on in this thread.. I’ve been guilty of that too..
