  1. Not sure about the pot of gold, but I’ve caught some dandy smallmouth and lake trout exactly where both ends meet the water over the years. #potofbronze
  2. 312, give or take a couple?.
  3. Took my neighbor out for a fish this morning. We managed about 20 bass, no real big ones, but did get into a few decent pike. Water temps are just about right to find some big ones here now, today it was 55 deg. Heres a couple of the neighbors better fish he got, none of the ones I got were worthy of a pic.
  4. As someone who lives “just a hair” further north than you, and also loves fishing from the boat, this is an unenjoyable photo. Although I’m kind of torn because I do like a little skiff for a week or so in November ( deer season). Just wish it’d disapear right after that.
  5. These look pretty cool, I might have to check out these when my wallet falls apart, which is gonna be sooner rather than later.
  6. I’ve caught a ton of bass ( smallmouth and largemouth) on white jigs over the years. Some of the lakes are clear and some are very dirty, and they’ve worked in deeper water and super shallow weedy areas as well. I think it’s a colour that’s not used a lot for some lure types, and works well behind guys that've been throwing black/blue, brown etc.
  7. Up here most of the lakes are very clear water, I use it a lot, especially on lakes with no depth maps to see all the rock shoals. Helps to find good spots and save lower units!
  8. This, was my ride home from work and the ramp I loaded back up this afternoon. Pics don’t do it justice, the rollers were 6-8’. Just another “lovely” fall day on Georgian Bay.
  9. I had a bow unit ( Helix 9), that did this exact thing. Needed larger gauge wiring. I went with 10g straight to the cranking battery, and it’s never done it again.
  10. Thanks for the info. This is something I desperately need to do to my rig, if I can ever find the time that is.
  11. That makes sense. I just have never had the need to carry a gun anywhere unless I was going hunting somewhere and wondered why you’d need one to go to the bank.
  12. That sucks, but I have a quick question. Why would you need a gun in your truck to “run to the bank”? If things are that bad in the states that you can’t go to the bank without a firearm, I’m gonna just stay here in Canada and catch big smallies and mediocre sized largies, you guys can have the big southern largemouth all to yourselves ?. And before anyone gives me a blast of crap about being an anti gun nut, yes, I do know there are shootings here in Canada and I do own multiple guns which I use for hunting and target shooting.
  13. A very pleasant ride home from work this afternoon, Georgian Bay is not always this “enjoyable” in the fall.
  14. The view from my “office” today, overlooking western Georgian Bay.
  15. You guys have not seen true “bug time” unless you've been in the bush in northern Ontario about the first half of May. When the blackflies are at their thickest, it can be hard to even breathe!
  16. It’s the same here in Ontario, 16 years old and over 100lbs to wear one. Maybe it’s due to the violent nature of how it inflates and dealing with smaller children’s necks etc. I had my 9 year old wear one once, only because I misinterpreted the regs thinking it was 16 or 100lbs ( he’s just over 100, a pretty big boy ?), but after later realizing, he immediately went back to the regular type vest. I have seen a few pics on here and other sites of pretty young kids wearing inflatables and it looks like they would slip right out of them due to the vest being so loose on the child. Better to err on the extra safe side, especially with young ones.
  17. Ah, the joy of being 10 months old and finally trained enough with the underground fence that you don’t need to be on a rope when outside ?
  18. Last morning of my northern trip, major cold front came through last night and it was 45 deg. this morning and clear sky’s. We found the fish had slid a bit deeper and didn’t even want to touch anything fast ( no surprise), but we managed to put the smack down on em with a Berkley power tube and drop shot Gulp minnow. For a while it was a fish on every cast, we managed another 40 or so, not bad for the first major cold front of the season. Best fish was right around 4lbs but most of them were between 2-4lbs.
  19. Never caught an orange one but last fall I got a small blue guy.
  20. Day 3 of my trip to my parents, caught over 40 bass today, it was a much tougher bite with the cold front rolling through after a bunch of thunderstorms came last night. We finally found the active larger ones this afternoon around some big, thick cabbage beds in about 8-10’ of water. Caught a few on spinnerbaits and a couple on a dropshot 4” Gulp minnow, but the bulk of the damage was done on a strike king rage swimmer rigged on a wide gap football head. We managed quite a few fish between 3-4lbs and several over 4, losing a couple more about 4lbs, but couldn’t seem to find anything much bigger than 4 today. Got a few small pike as well.
  21. This rock face is known as rooster rock, and it’s a big one. It’s so high you can’t even really fathom the height from a picture, and when we were downrigging for lake trout along the base of it today, it almost makes you feel queasy to try and look up to the top from down there. I can only imagine the view from the top. Those trees that are halfway up the face are full size white pines and poplars, they look like little bushes compared to the rockface.
  22. Afternoon of my trip up north, lake #2 for about 3 hours after supper. Got another 30 or so bass, most were smaller than the morning lake but we still got some nice ones, best was right at 4-1/2lbs.
  23. First morning of my trip to my parents place in Elliot Lake Ontario, fished lake #1 for about 3 hours, got at least 50 bass and lost a bunch more. Best fish was 4-1/4lbs but probably half of them were over 3.
  24. 43” and a thick girl too. That was a couple years ago near the end of September. I’d love to get back up there either later in the fall or right at ice out to see what else I can find, but so far I’ve only been there in the warmer season. It’s about a 3-1/2 hour drive from me, and I’m already 2-1/2 hours north of Toronto.
  25. One word: Berkley There, that’s all you need to know, your welcome ?
