Post a photo a day!
First time since mid October that we’ve made it out on the water, no boat this time though ?. Only stayed out for a couple hours but managed one nice trout for dinner tonight though.

Knock off Whopper Plopper
Hate to break it to you guys, but if your familiar with musky fishing at all, you’d know that the whopper plopper is maybe the original knock off, these guys have been around for years. And yes, I have caught some big smallies on these while Musky fishing, they seem to like the baby loon colour a lot.

Post a photo a day!
Just started two weeks holidays, best way to get things started is on the couch with the wife and a bottle of wine and the best movie ever made (at least for this time of year).

Winter Solstice is now behind us
Well, we’ve survived another solstice, the shortest day of the year. Any of my northern brethren know this can be a dark, cold, dreary time of year, when you hardly get to see your own yard in the daylight, if your working relatively longer hours. But the good news is it’s gonna start getting brighter, slowly and hardly noticeable at first but within a few more weeks the sun will start getting stronger, and with it, the flicker of a hope that things will soon start to “warm up a bit”. Hold strong my cold northern neighbours, before you know it we’ll be backing boats down the ramp once again.

fish with anyone
My great grandfather was a real outdoorsman. The first of four generations of stonemasons ( I’m number four), he used to be known as “the guy” to call if someone ever had a bear problem. Aparrently he shot dozens and dozens of bears over his lifetime, none of which went to waste. He was also known to troll for lake trout with a wire line while rowing to some of his many jobsites that were on island cottages. I’ve been known to “ fish my way to work” before as well, I’m sure we would’ve got along just fine ?.

Fishing Hats
Used to always wear a ball cap, but nowadays pretty much everyone in my boat wears these, can’t have enough protection when it comes to the sun.

9:1 Gear Ratio
I have a couple Revo rockets, and they’re excellent for pitching baits, especially when your moving quick and making short pitches while covering water. It takes almost no time to get the bait back to you for another pitch. That kind of stuff adds up over the course of a day to a lot more casts at a lot more targets. As for torque, I’ve caught lots of good sized bass and some pretty big pike with them, and it’s never once been a factor in being able to get the fish into the boat ( if they’ll hold up to an angry 40” northern, a bass won’t be an issue).

Rod Holders
I’ve used these for quite a while on several different boats, trolling for trout/salmon on Georgian Bay with in line planer boards in fairly big wind, and they hold up very well and have different mount styles for different boats.

What Is Your Strangest, Unintended Catch
Not many nice places to get ahold of that guy! Looks like a good one for a “pliers only release”.

What are your fishing goals for 2019?
Now that’s a goal anyone can enjoy!

What are your fishing goals for 2019?
I don’t have any real “goals” but I always want to spend more time with this guy. We should be yanking fish together through the ice here real soon once we get a bit more ice on our favourite lakes.

A-Jay's Inaugural Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
That is probably exactly what my ice out date will be, give or take a day or three, seeing how I’m pretty much right across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay from you at about the same parallel. Hold on my cold weather brother, together, we can get through this!

First Snow Storm of this Winter
Man, I only wish this was the “first major snow of the season” here. I’ve been dealing with this crap for a month already.

Awful 9's
You’re weird. There, I said it.

Marked one and caught it!
It sure is neat when that happens. This fall I was smallie fishing with my dad and we would come across schools of about 10-30 fish, I could see them clear as day on my side imaging on the trolling motor. Every single time we’d grab a rod with a tube or drop shot and just toss it to whatever side we saw them on, and it was lights out for a few minutes.

Mounting A Transducer On a Minn Kota Terrova - Precision Sonar Cable Guard
My Helix 9si is mounted on the motor with the wire run up the channel, but it is a Gen1 so the cable is a bit smaller diameter than the mega units. Doug vahrenburg has a good YouTube video on exactly how to do the install, it’s pretty simple and only takes an hour or so to do. As long as whatever unit you choose has a small enough cable, it should be quite easy to do.

Post a photo a day!
This guy was definitely past “ on his way out”. Not a branch left on it above what you see in the pic, long dead and now just giving itself back to the forest.

Post a photo a day!
This old birch has seen better days, but i thought it made a nice picture. Lots of fungus “perches” for squirrels to sit on ?

Why is bass fishing so addicting?
Yup,the votes have been all counted up and your gonna have to turn in your badge and screen name ?

Post a photo a day!
I guess somebody wanted a late snack before they went to bed for the winter, I’ve never seen one around here still out and about this late in the year before, especially with the weather we’re getting.

What are you putting on your fishing Christmas list?
I’m asking for spring, but like every year, I’m sure I’ll have to wait about 4 months for it ☹️.

Just another lovely November day in my neck of the woods ?
