IMX vs GLX
I agree with Raul, the premium for the GLX doesn't buy much, but there is a little. Is it worth it? I don't know for you, but it is for me. This same discussion holds for high end reels, but I won't bring up Raul's affliction for JDM in general and the Pixy in particular! "Collectors" or "enthusiasts" have interests that are not always measured in dollars and cents. 8-)

setting the drag
Although the math suggests 3-4 lbs, I suspect you will end up at 2-2 1/2 lbs. The rod for my main smallmouth rig is a PR844S which can handle a lot of weight, but 3 lbs is too much for me! 8-)

Pickwick Lake - Fri. Sat. Where to fish?
You will be very limited, but there are lots of fish in the marina cove, out to the main lake. Then move towards the dam where you will notice a significant hump and transition from shallow to deep. Fish just to the point where you can see the swimming beach. Don't waste your time around the beach. Fish back towards the marina and on deeper into the main cove. Spend some time just inside the opening near the first docks. There is a hump across the bay that always holds fish, but gets fished to death! My next suggestion is to drive over to the ramp next to the Shell station and fish that cove. It's very productive, but it is so convenient, it too gets fished to death. Good luck! 8-)

Yo roadwarrior!
I fished the new Stella 2500FD last weekend on the White River. The noticeable differences between the FD and FB are negliable. However, when fishing for trout, which have a very soft mouth, the drag features were not really utilized. It seems that both casting distance and line management may be better, but the differences are small. I will follow-up with a more detailed review when I have tested the reel more thoroughly. 8-)

setting the drag
Same advice, just another way: An example using 12 lb line: put a 3 lb free weight in a plastic grocery bag and tie it on to your line. Gently lift the bag off the ground an set your drag so it begins to release at that point. After measuring your drag weight, you will get a feel for where it needs to be set. Still, it's fun to do and I always like an exact setting when I get new gear. If you measure your drag setting properly as J Francho, Reel Mechanic and I have suggested, you will never adjust your setting during the fight. 8-)

Salty Grub for Smallies?
Welcome aboard! Try some 5" GYCB Single Tail Grubs (031, Blue Pearl w/ Silver) and Smoke (002). Rig them on 1/8 oz jig head. Make long casts up river and vary your speed, but use nothing but a steady retrieve. http://***/cgi-bin/order/002?Cz4cjARW;;136 8-)

Leaving The Shore - Need Some Advice - Updated
Add crankbaits to the mix. Now that you are mobile, you can retrieve them when they hang-up. Running a Norman Fat Boy or Bomber Square A just outside those weedlines might be just the ticket. I would spend some time with the Rage Tail Shad, Frog and Toads, too! In low light, especially with a slight breeze, Cavitron Buzzbait, Spooks and/or LC Sammy would be other options I would try. 8-)

IMX vs GLX
The IMX series is what made G. Loomis. You will be completely satisfied with these rods. However, if another $100 doesn't mean too much to you, the GLX series is slightly more sensitive. Technically, the IMX is probably the stronger rod because the blank walls are slightly thicker, but that is a feature you will never notice. 8-)

Best deeper water baits
Stick with what your doing, but try some different soft plastics and jigs. Specifically, the Rage Tail Lobster on a Evolution Shak-E2 jig; Rage Tail 10" Ananconda, GYCB 6 1/2" Kut Tail and/or Gene Larew 7 1/2" Salty Ring Worm. Hard, deep diving lures are probably out. Fishing from the bank you will lose them all. I fish ponds from the bank a lot and this lure class is not an option. 8-)

Underwater Cameras Worth it? Or is it cheating
An analogy might be a treadmill: You will use it a few times and then it becomes "space filler". :

Traditional Jig & Pig
I use Uncle Josh Pork occasionally. When fishing is slow, I think it out fishes plastic. Still, I use plastic trailers the majority of the time. p.s. "variety of colors?" Uncle Josh come in both blue and black!

Left handed, right handed, what the heck?
Maybe it's just fun to discuss? It makes no difference from a practical stand point. Fish what you like. For me it's right hand retrieve for baitcasters and left hand for spinning reels. 8-)

GLX, IMX, St. Croix Legend Xtreme...
GLX MBR783 is a fine rod and great investment. You will not be disappointed. However, unless you want to fish a cheap fiberglass rod, don't lift fish over a pound or two with your rod. The term is "high sticking" which rod tips are not designed to do. BTW, Welcome aboard! 8-)

Left handed, right handed, what the heck?
Hmm... There is nothing unique about the basic design. "Application" is the issue. The invention and use of the winch goes back a few years: History The earliest literary reference to a winch can be found in the account of Herodotus of Halicarnassus on the Persian Wars (Histories 7.36), where he describes how wooden winches were used to tighten the cables for a pontoon bridge across the Hellespont in 480 B.C. Winches may have been employed even earlier in Assyria. By the 4th century BC, winch and pulley hoists were regarded by Aristotle as common for architectural use. 8-)

His gun was fake/Homeowners wasn't..
Officer to homeowner: "Why did you shoot the perpetrator six times?" Homeowner's response: "I ran out of bullets." Break into an occupied home with criminal intent and die. It's that simple. I have no compassion for the perp, none whats-so-ever. >
