your favorite big fish bait.
Well, I know we all have some lures/ techniques that we prefer, mine is fishing jerkbaits. However, if it's all about size, maybe the answer is swimbaits, they are certainly the "new-new thing". Over the years #1 & #2 have been jigs and T-rigged soft plastics. 8-)

Pete Rose
He and Johnny Bench were two of my high school idols. Rose for his hustle, Bench because I was an aspiring catcher and he was the "Best Ever". Rose in the Hall of Fame? NEVER!

Left handed, right handed, what the heck?
This topic comes up a lot. This is what George Welcome wrote and where I stand: Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand. 8-)

Can you guys suggest a line for my unweighted soft plastic set up.
Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength). Baitcasting gear: Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength). 8-)

Summer Fishing Hiatus -- who takes them?
In the summer my focus on the Tennessee River turns to striper and German brown trout on the White. If I'm in town, largemouth after work and weekends for a few hours at a couple of local ponds. With rare exception, I fish year around. 8-)

out of curiosity
I have technique specific rigs, but they handle a number of lures within a class. As far as making adjustments, once I have a reel "dialed in", it rarely gets any adjustment. 8-)
