  1. Living in Colorado is a privilege that I would never take for granted. We lived there for 17 years and loved every moment! It's not a bass fisherman's paradise, but there are many more attributes that make the state special. 8-)
  2. Your best bet is a G. Loomis IMX MBR844C in our Flea Market. 8-)
  3. Man, I admonish the Posse to stay off other brand's threads. And yes, I have been guilty in the past. At any rate, this thread seems calm to me and as long as it stays civil, it stays alive. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  4. My best day ever was with east winds and a rising barometer... Go figure! :
  5. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength) Baitcasting gear: Hybrid or Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength) 8-)
  6. Unless you are dedicating the reel to deep diving crankbaits, I think the 7:1 is a much better choice. 8-)
  7. G. Loomis GLX MBR844C and make this your dedicated jig rig. 8-)
  8. I feel exactly the same way. The STX is a solid reel, I just don't like the magnetic braking system. Like yours, mine is on a dedicated rod and is dialed in for one task. Still, I have to tweak the reel every time I use it! By contrast my Curado, like all my other Shimano reels, is good-to-go. No adjustments required. 8-)
  9. Welcome to the Posse! Great post, too! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. Brent, Get back to work. Happy hour starts at 5:00.
  11. Well, I just recently acquired a new Curado 200E. I consider this comparable to much more expensive Shimano reels. You have a number of nice reels, why not save some money and get a Curado when you can? p.s. If you shop around or keep an eye on our Flea Market, you can probably pick up a NIB Curado for around $150. 8-)
  12. Not me, never for any technique or species. 8-)
  13. Guntersville, Wheeler, Wilson, Pickwick and Kentucky Lake all have professional and club bass tournaments nearly every week of the year. On top of that, we also have catfish tournaments, crappie fishermen, sauger and striper guys who always catch a few green fish by accident. So, what's the impact on the fisheries with all this pressure? Nada, nothing at all, none whats-so-ever! 8-)
  14. I have both in the GLX version. I have a slight preference for the MBR844C, but you will REALLY like either rod! Note: My main rig for smallmouth is a GLX PR844S/ Stella 2500FD which I use mostly for live bait. I have the same rod in the baitcasting version, PR844C/ Shimano Core that I use for "moving" lures. 8-)
  15. My choice is a G. Loomis MBR844C/ Shimano CTE200GT. 8-)
  16. #1 GYCB 6 1/2" Kut Tail Kahuna http://www.insideline.net/2003/kut-tail.htm #2 Roboworm 6" Shakin' Zipper http://www.roboworm.com/zsframe.htm 8-)
  17. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  18. St Croix Avid Series Specifically: AVC68MXF: All-around or dedicated soft plastics and jigs AVC66MF: All treble hooks, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits AVS70MF: Weightless soft plastics, drop shot and live bait 8-)
  19. Try lighter line, you will be surprised by what a difference it makes. As a rule, I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 pound breaking strength), but I also fish #4 (.009" diameter, 8.5 lb breaking strength). All of my biggest German Brown Trout, the fish in my avatar and perhaps the World Record smallmouth have been caught or hooked-up using #4. Coincidence? I don't think so! 8-)
  20. MBR844C/ CTE200GT/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #15 is my striper gear; weighted soft plastics and sometimes jig rig. I would rate this combination a dead solid 10! 8-)
  21. Well, the fact that he is wasting another year in college speaks volumes. For $20- $30mm who do you want me to kill? 8-)
  22. Not a great way to introduce yourself to a BASS FORUM. You probably need somewhere else to hang your hat. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
