  1. What's the question? These thoughts are symptomatic of a serious case of cabin fever. Buy a new rod or some lures, that will temporarily relieve what ails you. ;D ;D ;D
  2. The "best time" is generally in low light, especially with a slight breeze. The Spook is a fine lure, but my favorite is the LC Sammy 128, Aurora Black, which is blue. 8-)
  3. I remember you saying you preferred spinning tackle for jerkbaits, but I prefer a baitcaster. However, I don't like fishing baitcasters at night, especially with a technique that requires fast, repetitive casting. I often need a slight "adjustment" which I can't see very well in the dark. Although I don't throw Floating Rapalas or other light lures often, that is another thing I use the Fenwick for. It's really a fine rod and way underutilized by me. 8-)
  4. Well, my pick would be Stick Marsh/ Farm13, but from what I understand, you really need a guide to fish there. It's not just about finding the fish, the lake is dangerous to navigate. Guntersville would be a great choice, but as we found out last year on our Roadtrip, weather is a huge factor. As you might guess, the fishing was fantastic the week before we came and the week after we left! Still, the group had at least two PBs and most guys caught some fish. 8-)
  5. Well, this isn't what you want to hear, but... I have only fished Lake Fork during the BassResource.com Roadtrip II. I had the perfect guide, flechero! We caught fish, not giants, but Keith had a 6 1/2 and we both caught several 4-5s. What I didn't like was "waiting in line' to fish. flechero took me places out-of-the-way for the most part, but there were several times when the boats were thick. When I go back to Texas, I will fish a different lake. 8-)
  6. Once the Gaza conflict cools down, oil prices will, too. Although OPEC has reduced production, the real issue now is demand. This will not pick up as the world economies continue to weaken. Oil is currently flat on the day at $48.81. 8-)
  7. Test run through March, 2009. The STX has been substituted for a CTE200GT. By dedicating the STX as a single purpose reel, issues with the magnetic braking system have been addressed. A full report will follow after one full year of ownership. 8-)
  8. Northern version of "jugging?" 8-)

  10. St. Croix is a fine company and the Avid is the best rod at its pricing point. I suggest the AVC68MXF for soft plastics and jigs, 3/8 oz or less. The rod handles more, but with trailer, this is its sweet spot. 8-)
  11. You need to forward that pic to the Idaho Tourist Commission. 8-)
  12. The idea was just thrown out there, but went over like a turd in a punchbowl. 8-)
  13. I fish three brands of jigs: Micro Munch Tackle GMAN Evolution 8-)
  14. My pond fishing has really slowed down. In the last 10 fishing hours or past two weeks, I have only caught three largemouth. All three were on one quick trip, less than 1 1/2 hours. One was a tournament bass and the other two were 5+. All caught on a white KaRu VibraSpin. Otherwsie, I have not had a single bite. 8-)
  15. I was getting ready to type the same thing. To me, he's kind of like Stallone. He sucks as an actor but I gotta watch his movies. Yep, all his movies were made for watchin', not for thinkin' 'bout. 8-)
  16. "Perception" effects the price of a barrel, but that cost is what directly impacts prices at the pump. Erratic movement, like we see around holidays, is more sinister and has little "economic cost" basis. It seems like prices are raised when the distributors can get away with it! 8-)
  17. [movedhere] Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, Leaders, and Knots [move by] roadwarrior.
  18. OPEC has cut production and the situation in Gaza has exploded into full-blown war. However, oil remains under $50 a barrel because of weak demand and a glut of inventory literally floating around in tankers. Gasoline prices here have jumped up to $1.54, but with my grocery card discount, I'm still paying less than a dollar. 8-)
  19. OSU played inspired football last night. Hats off to the Buckeyes and their fans!
  20. Hey guys! Dude is gone along with some other bad apples. Let's move on, there is no need to dwell on ghosts from the past. Goodnight Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  21. Now we're talkin'!
  22. Not invited or invited back...My dog claims that mistake. 8-)
  23. I have had two replaced without receipts...no issues. The rods don't do well being stepped on or lifting boats with a cleat. 8-)
  24. WOW! Thank you, that's one heck of a post. 8-)
