  1. That is amazing...WOW! 8-)
  2. I watch her jump and hope she does it again! If you don't want the fish jumping, lowering your reel might work, but reeling fast and pulling the fish as it seems to be surfacing works better. 8-)
  3. Man, I hope it works out for you, but a lot of things seem great when they are shiny and new. Maybe after you fish it awhile you can write a review on how well it holds up. The guys I know from BPS don't fish that reel or much of the "in house" gear. 8-)
  4. If you have current, you will find them near rocks that create a break. We catch ours along the dam wall when water is being released and along the riprap in strong current. You have to find them shallow to use a throw net successfully. 8-)
  5. Yes, but throwing a cast net is easier, less time consuming and will result in large numbers of very fresh minnows. 8-)
  6. I think rods might be more important for "catching" bass, but reels make the "fishing" more enjoyable. On average, my reels account for 2/3 - 3/4 of the total cost of a rig. 8-)
  7. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  8. ;D ;D ;D ;D CONGRATULATIONS! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  9. X2 The Guidewear will last for a decade or more. 8-)
  10. Well, you don't need to travel far. The water immediately below Wilson Dam is technically Pickwick Lake. There is a very good chance that the next World Record will be caught there, this is THE place to fish for trophy smallmouth bass. 8-)
  11. Spinnerbaits: 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action All treble hooks: 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Moderate Action or Fast Action with a soft tip. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 8-)

    Welcome aboard! 8-)
  13. Also, in deeper water associated with structure. In a pond I fish, the larger bass patrol a ledge off the bank 8-12 yards. I occasionally find a few in the channel of the original stream, but this is not a feature of many ponds. 8-)
  14. I'm staying out of this, but if you will review the last 20, 50 or 100 pages in this section, there are lots of suggestions (opinions) on rods and reels at different pricing points. p.s. A couple of off-color responses and references to those posts were delted. Please, be courteous and stay on topic. :
  15. I fish relatively open water: Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.009" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: #12 Ultra Soft (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) I have never been broken off by a fish using either of these lines. 8-)
  16. Nice fish, great pics! 8-)
  17. Wow! What a day. Great post and pics! 8-)
  18. Welcome aboard! This is a "pond" thread that was started last week: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1212362184
  19. Thanks for posting the pic, she's a beauty! 8-)
  20. ** MODERATOR NOTE ** Off topic posts and those referencing the posts have been deleted. This thread is about a reel, not guns... -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  21. Outstanding lures, I'm sure you will be impressed. 8-)
  22. Hmm... Given the choice with the same opportunity, I might not ever fish for green trout. 8-)
  23. Fish the Fat Ika as an alternative to the Senko in exactly the same places: relatively shallow water (<12'); in and around cover or structure; anywhere you think bass might live. 8-)
  24. I don't think that is the case at all. Follow the procedure described a few posts up and you can remove 99% of all deep hooks without any injury to the fish. 8-)
  25. "Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are." Maybe this is old news, but I just saw it for the first time yesterday and it really struck a cord with me. 8-)
