  1. Definitely NOT a Triumph. Stick with the Avid series, either the AC66MF or AC70MM. 8-)
  2. www.baits.com 8-)
  3. I face the same problems with moss, specifically snot grass (spirogyra). I have found the 3/8 oz Cavitron buzzbait and frogs to effective early, in low light. Otherwise, my best presentation is the GYCB Kreature: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581 8-)
  4. You can fish nearly all "treble hook" lures on one rod, fiberglass or graphite. The "all-around" rod would be Medium Power/ Moderate Action or Fast Action with a soft tip. The St. Croix Avid AC66MF is a perfect example and one I own. This rod is particularly nice for fishing jekbaits and topwater where a little more control is preferred. Another Avid I own is the AC70MM. This is a more traditional crankbait rod with Moderate Action. I use this almost exclusively for lipless cranks and light, shallow runnning lures. For big, heavy treble hook lures and especially deep divers, I fish a Lamiglas SR705R glass rod. This is "technique specific" for me and should not be considered for "all-around" use. 8-)
  5. Okay, just trying to be helpful. I realize some of the smaller soft plastics "work" better with smaller hooks, but for everything with the width of a 5" Senko or bigger, the 4/0 or 5/0 EWG should be considered. 8-)
  6. Thank you for the review. I don't have one yet, but am looking forward to purchasing a Core in the very near future. 8-)
  7. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) Both original formula Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft are a bonded (not coated) fluorocarbon/ nylon copolymer. Ultra Soft is more limp because of a higher percentage of nylon in the blend. The lines are impervious to water and UV light so they last indefinitely. Both are highly abrasion resistant, have low stretch and float! I have been fishing these lines for more than three years. I have never been broken-off by a fish using these lines. http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLine/Hybrid.htm 8-)
  8. This is a jig thread I save it in "Favorites" for the post by Joe.S: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 8-)
  9. 6 lb bass are fairly common at Guntersville if you are there at the right time. I'm sure either end of the lake will work for you. 8-)
  10. Definitely a "Dream Trip" http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1208854005 8-)
  11. Start using a bigger hook and you might catch some better fish. 8-)
  12. Cool! 8-)
  13. I have never had a problem with Gamakatsu or VMC hooks. Both are razor sharp right out of the package and stay that way. I have never broken either hook on a fish or rock. There are a number of brands in the premium category and these two are among them. 8-)

    Welcome aboard! 8-)
  15. Man, you got it goin' on! 8-)
  16. Okay, Things haven't changed that much! 8-)
  17. Smallmouth tend to be shorter and fatter, hence the nickname "football". In a picture the difference is striking because the 7 is literally much more massive than the 5. Typically, a 7 lb largemouth is longer and thinner than a 5 and doesn't appear that much different in a lot of photos. Also when 5s are not weighed on a scale, they look exactly like 7s & 8s! 8-)
  18. I fish Kreatures with a 4/0 EWG, too! Bass tend to "hold" the Fat Ika. I doubt that you missed many (any) bass, those bites were probably bream. 8-)
  19. Well, I have never heard of it, but I guess I can't appreciate the "advantage". All spinnerbaits come through cover pretty well with the exception of snot grass. I don't see how this design would reduce or eliminate catching fine vegetation and bigger stuff (timber & rocks) isn't usually an issue. :
  20. Wait a minute. Although Junior's driving improved noticably last year, he caused more accidents out of pure stupidity in 2005 & 2006 than all other drivers combined. On-the-other-hand, maybe you can argue that dangerous behavior helped him back then, since he hasn't won a race in two years! Off topic: Can you imagine what NASCAR would be like if you actually had 43 cars in the hunt? 8-)
  21. Nice fish and pic! 8-)
  22. Here in the Mid-South, redneck is either non-contagious or everyone already has it! We have no restrictions in state or within the region. On a serious note, the Tennessee River is a commercial waterway with consideable barge traffic from throughout the country (north to south). It would be very difficult (impossible) to manage a breakout of an introduced species. In some parts of the Mid-West, flying catfish are a growing menace and efforts to control the fish are being tried. Success is still an open question. 8-)
