Why Light Line?
I think you might be surprised how much a thinner diameter affects your success with finesse presentations.

The Quest For The One.... The Jerkbait/topwater Rod
My dedicated jerkbait rod is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF with a soft tip. 1. The length is very manageable when working a jerkbait 2. The tip is soft, much like Moderate Action 3. The rod is stout in the middle of the blank after it loads For topwater I like a longer rod. Mine is a G.Loomis PR844C. 1. The rod is described as a saltwater "popping rod series" http://www.gloomis.com/publish/content/gloomis_2010/us/en/conventional/rods/classic_saltwater/popping_rods.html 2. The rod loads for long casts, has a soft tip and is stout when it is loaded

$1.99
Local issues impact prices at the pump. Weather, maintenance, delivery or a host of other problems may explain the higher prices you are seeing. However, the cost of crude continues to slide and pump prices should be trending down for everyone.

Bait Companies?
I think it's all about innovation and product delivery. Here is something you might find interesting: Big O invented "The Ridge". Look closely at your Rage Tail baits and you will see "The Ridge". This gives these baits a unique action. Other brands have copied this innovation, but it is patented. The result has been, other knock-offs have had to "cease and desist". As importantly, Rage Tail products come in a blister pack that insures the baits are delivered as designed. The baits are perfect when you buy them and rigging instructions are precise. Quality products from a quality guy...

Game Day Hype!
This weekend's games are almost as exciting match-ups as the Super Bowl. Dallas headed back to the tundra...It doesn't get any better than that!

Kids Fishing Charities - Passing On A Fishing Legacy...
I guess what I mostly mean is that anything associated with your favorite Chinese reel company would not be acceptable. If you are not trying to push the envelope, almost any charitable organization would qualify. We have made a tremendous impact on Tackle The Storm and will continue to support that program. However, that commitment does not diminish any other legitimate organization.

Kids Fishing Charities - Passing On A Fishing Legacy...
Assuming they are nonprofit and unaffiliated with any particular company, that would be fine.

Would I Be Crazy?
It is often on sale on the internet at some of the big name stores. Last month I bought a couple of 600 yards spools for $8.99 - 25% and free shipping (bundled with some other stuff). Right now the 275 yard spools are on sale for $4.49-$6.49 depending on size. This is my simple suggestion: Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Baitcasting gear: #12
