I think you might be surprised how much a thinner diameter affects your success with finesse presentations.

My dedicated jerkbait rod is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF with a soft tip. 1. The length is very manageable when working a jerkbait 2. The tip is soft, much like Moderate Action 3. The rod is stout in the middle of the blank after it loads For topwater I like a longer rod. Mine is a G.Loomis PR844C. 1. The rod loads for long casts, has a soft tip and is stout when it is loaded

I think it's all about innovation and product delivery. Here is something you might find interesting: Big O invented "The Ridge". Look closely at your Rage Tail baits and you will see "The Ridge".
