My observations after fishing the line for a few months are these: Tournament 8 is uniformly round and smooth. I have not seen any wear or fraying. I fish this 30# braid with a Tatsu 20 lb leader and Alberto Knot. Some will argue that all lines have a little stretch, but I can't detect ANY. In general use the line does not dig into the spool, but there is a little of that when you are using your gear to remove tree stumps from the bottom of the river! I do not know the actual breaking strength, but the tensile strength is stout. I have had no issues with heavy lures, fish, rocks or wood. I have had no issues with wrapping or wind knots, but I still would expect some from time to time in stronger wind. I will fish this line this weekend and update the post. Well, the fan base has dropped dramatically over the past several years and I'm one of those who have left. NASCAR may not have coined the phrase, but they have certainly embrace it: "If you ain't cheatin', you ain't trying". The last race I watched was several years ago when Junior was racing for "Lucky Dog" late in the race. He moved into the infield grass and took out 17 cars as I recall. No fine, no suspension, no nothin' just because he is "Junior".

Fresh rainwater has very low levels of dissolved oxygen. I suspect the fish moved out to deeper water.

As others have already stated, the issue is the rod not the reel. You really need a Medium Power/ Moderate Action rod to launch those weights. Specifically, I own and recommednt the St. Croix Avid AVC70MM and Pinnacle DHC5-701CAMCB: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc-review.html I would also suggest swapping out the braid for #12 Sunline Super Natural Monofilament.

On the fall the trailer stands up and remains up or a limmited time after it hits the bottom. When the jig is lifted the trailer stnads up again. This is also true, but to a more limited extent, when the jig is dragged. Try it in clear water and see for yourself.

I prefer the stand-up jig head.

I have been experimenting a little with a couple of options. I think I'm probably going to go with a Stella 1000 rather than the 2500, but they are both in play for now.

50 lb Tuf-Line, Kanzen or Suffix 832 are all great braids. Add a 20 lb fluorocarbon leader for abrassion protection and so you can break off when you need to (hang-ups).

Carbontex are what most guys use for upgrades. I have never heard of a flaking issue.

Not me. I have been experimenting with braid on three different spinning rigs for various presentations. Got rid of the last one today. I am back to #4 & #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on all my spinning gear.
