Who still fishes from the bank?
I have a couple of small farm ponds that I’ll fish several times a year. It’s nice if I want to make a few casts after work and don’t feel like loading the boat up.

Anyone ever order a reel from Amazon?
I have several Zillions that came from Japan through Amazon. No problems at all

What is the bow to waterline measurement on a 1448 Jon boat in inches?
I had a 45” on mine

What Fishing Gimmick Did You Fall For?
Worst thing I fell for was braid is a good multipurpose line, I hate it and only use it for throwing frogs.

well, I have to choose a new reel. Zillion or Met (non DC)
Zillion HD has MagZ spool, not SV. Has brass gears instead of aluminum, longer handle and black paint.

SPRO Little John 50 is killer in cold water.

How many lures catch 80% of your bass?
I catch at least 80 percent or more on Jigs Texas rigs Crankbaits

How long has your current fish finder lasted you?
I’ve always upgraded my electronics before they went bad, except for a little 4 inch humminbird unit I had on a Jon boat years ago, that one died at just 13 months old.

Dobyns vs Kistler sensitivity
Kistler for sure

Daiwa Steez Utility Player vs Bottom Contact Rod
I have no experience with those 2 rods, but I do have the Steez 7’2 H Power Pitch. I use it for pitching 1/4 to 1/2 oz jigs. It is my favorite rod, light and sensitive. It’ll handle t-rigs down to 1/4 ounce as well.

Getting my first dedicated frogging setup but I am torn on which reel to use
JDM 22 Zillion HD. 20 lbs of drag is unnecessary for bass fishing
-
Orochi xx vs. Expride B
I have the Orochi XX Perfect Pitch. I wouldn’t call it a multi purpose rod. It’s pretty much for pitching or throwing a frog. I have no experience with the Expride but I’m sure it’s a lot lighter. The Perfect Pitch is heavy, it weighs 6.2 ounces on my scale.

How moderate do you like your jig rod?
Tom might have a different reason, but I prefer FC for its slack line sensitivity. I’ve detected strikes that I know I wouldn’t have felt if I were using braid.

daiwa zillion rods 2024
I have the 7’3. It is all graphite. You won’t be disappointed. I love this rod and sensitivity is close to my Steez

Favorite jig trailers?
Rage Craw for full size jigs Missile Mini D chunk for smaller jigs

How moderate do you like your jig rod?
I use a fast action and very seldom lose any fish.

Why not Cabelas?
Cabela’s /BPS rod selection is very poor, plus they are more expensive than other places. They do sell nice clothes though

Tatula elite AGS
I’ve got a Tatula Elite 7’ M/MH and a Steez 7’2 H with AGS guides. No problems with the guides

BFS Reels - Daiwa Alphas SV TW 800 vs Daiwa Silver Wolf
The Alphas SV 800 is a really nice reel, but it’s not a BFS reel with the factory spool. 1/4 ounce lure weight is about the bottom end.

Your Favorite Nylon Mono?
My favorite mono as well, but sadly it’s been discontinued

Quick spinnerbait poll...
Never

SC Victory Marshal vs Shimano Zodias.
I have the Grunt and it’s a good spinnerbait rod.

Outboard Restrictions
Will Tracker sell a Classic XL without an OB? I’d buy an extra wide Jon Boat with a livewell, put a 80lb 24 v trolling motor on the bow, a 55lb on the transom. That’s the way I had my 1448 set up for electric lakes before I bought my Tracker PT175.

Newbie Fishing gear and fishing line question
15lb SmackDown has the same diameter as 6lb mono. 40 lb has the same as 12 lb mono.

Newbie Fishing gear and fishing line question
The 15 lb Smackdown braid is fine for the spinning reel, but it’s way too small for the casting reel. You want at least 40 lb for that.
