  1. Of course it's a suggestion. But it also works both ways, and rods can be overrated. A 6XD is a full ounce. A DT10 isn't what people think of when you say "deep diver".
  2. Whatever they want to eat are the most fun. It is kinda fun to swing around with a big ol 9" glidebait, though, even if they ain't interested in it.
  3. It has a lure rating of 5/8". No way you're throwing deep cranks on it
  4. Go over it with a sharpie. It won't be white anymore, and you'll never think about it again
  5. Another reason why I can't have a SUP, even though I really want one. By the end of the day my kayak looks like I paddled through a tornado. I'd probably bounce hundreds of dollars of tackle overboard before I smartened up and quit tossing crap on the deck. There's probably $40 worth of tungsten rolling around it right now ?
  6. The way some of them are designed, they're really nothing more than a solid kayak without a gunnel. My buddy has a 12' Vibe Maverick, and he's had himself and another guy at the same time standing and fishing. They're ridiculously stable.
  7. Or keep an eye on marketplace for a used Rocketbox. I picked mine up for $75 last year. Either of these require a rack, though.
  8. The Zulu looks awesome. If a SUP was practical where I lived, I'd have probably bought one.
  9. The parts that make the drag click are an extremely tiny spring and ball. You probably dropped em while taking your drag star off, and didn't realize it.
  10. There's several companies manufacturing SUPs specifically designed and marketed towards anglers. Kaku, Vibe, Jackson, and even Hobie all make a SUP.
  11. The only time a swivel gets used by me is on a C rig.
  12. Too short for what? Length doesn't dictate strength of a rod. The only issue I see pertaining to length after you hook a fish is crossing over your bow if you need, and you sitting too far back in the canoe
  13. I completely agree. With roughly $225-250 per set up, I think he'll get decent quality gear that gives him a perfect baseline to later decide whether higher end gear is worth it to him.
  14. I'm a firm believer in that mantra. But I also think he'd be better off splitting $450 into 2 set ups.
  15. I'm not super knowledgeable or up to date on all the Garmin transducers, so I may be misreading something, but it looks like a Y splitter is pretty much only good for connecting "right" and "left" sidevu transducers.
  16. I've never been, but I've heard it's beautiful up there.
  17. Here in NM we had lakes that didn't have a single boat ramp til about a month ago. Less water means fish have less hiding spots from me ?‍♂️.
  18. I use a 7'4 medium for dropshots, and small swimbaits, mostly.
  19. I'll either sit back down, or kneel, depending on exactly where my net is, really. It's easier for me to kneel if my nets up front.
  20. Give em to the kids, or hand em out to other kids I see fishing the local ponds. I've got a 3600 box of "giveaway" stuff I keep in my pond hoppin bag
  21. I typically throw smaller finesse jigs, or flip with mine. With 16lb sniper I can *almost* spool the reel, but not quite. Also throwing on a longer rod than you, so YMMV. If you're worried about line capacity, the Curado MGL is a 150.
  22. I'd personally go with an MGL, instead.
  23. That's not a negative thing, that's the key to it. They come up shallow to feed, then go back to their comfy spot
