  1. The guy who created the group also has a really great YouTube with really in depth start-to-finish build videos.
  2. They seem to either be unpopular, or just not talked about. I like em, and have had a lot of success with with em. They're a pretty fat profiled crank, and that definitely has a time and place. They also seem to deflect really well. I can't remember ever getting one hung up, even with those giant #2's hangin from em.
  3. I ordered mine straight from Lowrance cause they had a rebate going on the site.
  4. Irod, Fitzgerald, Kistler, and Megabass just to name a couple.
  5. Or that. I don’t think they’ll stick to a frog, though. And they’re a lot more expensive.
  6. If you have problems throwing the lighter weight frogs with your setup, put a couple BB's in the belly.
  7. As in how they both name them? 704 = 7'0 4 power? A lot of companies do that
  8. Y'all don't use a drag adjustment tool?
  9. I have 2 pitching rods, and they're at almost opposite sides of the spectrum as far as actions go. My heavy jig/ heavy cover rod is a broom stick. I want to make sure I get those huge hooks buried good, then horse em in quick. My other rod is almost right in between a fast and moderate. It gets used for lighter baits and not having much cover to fight through. I don't have to worry about them making a run and spitting the hook because the rod wouldn't give. I use straight fluoro, because I have almost zero vegetation in my lakes, but tons of brush and rock.
  10. I accidentally set mine off last year. Took me all of about 5 minutes to replace the components and pack back up.
  11. Yes. They use a CO2 cartridge and bobbin that needs to be replaced if deployed, or after a certain amount of time. They vary in price depending on what model vest you buy
  12. I read that backwards, as in you drain 42ah out of it. It made sense, a lot of people think that because deep cycles are designed to draw down to 15-20% if needed, it’s ok to do it every time.
  13. Repeatedly discharging over 50-60% is damaging it
  14. When I lived in a state where the lakes had grass, one of my favorite things to do was run a squarebill overtop the grass. Usually just ticking the top, but occasionally digging it into the grass, then ripping it out and killing it. The key is to hold the rod reeeaaaal tight, cause that bite is vicious.
  15. PVC bunks. Slides right on and off.
  16. I've heard nothing but rave reports on the iRod swimbait rods, so on a whim I took a chance and ordered one of their conventional tackle rods. Bought their $100 fiber series, figured if I didn't like it I didn't spend much. Put a huge smile on my face the first time out, I loved it. A few weeks later I bought another, but upgraded to the Crusher series, and it's seriously just hard to put down.
  17. They wouldn't be very good salesman if they didn't ?
  18. I'd try their copolymer, then. Or pick up a spool of both and give each a try. A spool of each will run you less than $20.
  19. It's really not recommended to do that. It'll work, but you could either fry the old battery, or drastically reduce the lifespan of the new one. A $40 switch is definitely cheaper than batteries.
  20. I don't think it matters much on a kayak, but I looked at both and went with Ram because it felt sturdier. I've heard nothing but great things about YakAttack's thru hull kit, though. A little thinner and more customizable. I don't know much about solar charging, but I imagine you could piece together your own kit for a similar price than Dakota's. Or just buy theirs, and use it with whatever battery you buy. We won't tell anyone.
  21. I've already seen some fish caught on it. Funny enough, not many bigger than the bait itself ?
  22. Definitely depends on water temp and the area I'm fishing. I've went in for a Bullshad a few times that I eventually lost to a snag in a different lake I was positive I'd come out with some mutation if I went in.
  23. $175-ish is my personal "point of diminishing returns" on each. I've got more expensive gear, and it's obviously nicer than my cheaper stuff; smoother, lighter, etc. But often not noticeable enough to me to justify the extra cash. I do occasionally like to treat myself, though. I've got a couple $250-300 rods.
  24. CXX is definitely thick. But it's dang near unbreakable. Any particular reason you're unhappy with your current line? If you like it, but are looking for a cheaper alternative, I always see people rave about Yo-Zuri's copoly.
