  1. 99.9% of OT's products are junk. But if it's cheaper or at least comparable to online prices, it'd be worth it to pick up a pack and check out. Put it on the line and rub the line back and forth through it, and see if it frays. Worst case scenario is you're out a few bucks.
  2. I think a football jig put the most fish in my kayak this year. Moving from a state where every fishery has tons and tons of grass to a state with nothing but rocky reservoirs forced me to throw it more, and really learn it well. The move also forced me to really figure out how to fish for suspended fish. A weighted wacky rig in these situations came in a very close second for MVL.
  3. I know the new 70 MGL is a 150 with a 70 sized shallow spool, I'd assume they did the same thing here.
  4. I think a lot of people over hype the fury, making people think it's going to perform like a high priced rod. They're a great rod at a good price, I like mine. But I'd still rather spend another $25-50 and get a more sensitive rod for bottom contact baits.
  5. Most, if not all recent graphs are at least IPX6 rated, so a short dunk shouldn't be an issue. I've taken some pretty big wakes over my bow and my graph was fine. Like Dens228, I've yet to come close to flipping.
  6. Make sure the software is up to date. Download the latest version to an SD card, no more than 32gb and load it to both units. After update, power them both down and back up. Then make sure they are connected to each other via WiFi...the internal WiFi, not your home router. Then you should be able to chose Navionics from the map selection on the “remote” unit. Sometimes it gets stupid and I have to restore factory defaults to get them to share. If you ever put the base unit in standby, you’ll lose the map on the remote unit. After you take it out of standby, it may take a few minutes before they start talking to each other again.
  7. Press pages and power buttons at the same time to take a screenshot, it's saved to internal memory. Go watch user "Fish the Moment" on YouTube, he'll teach you everything you need to know about reading sonar.
  8. If your budget is $300, why not just get one of each, Dobyn's 795 and 806, and have the proper tool for the job? A rod that can stick a Hud hook real well is going to lose you a bunch of fish on a glide, and vice versa
  9. Maybe adopting a few of us?
  10. It's suggested to load a kayak to 75% of its rating. You might feel stable while sitting/paddling, but lean over the side very much and you might go swimming. Wear your PFD, and leash anything that doesn't float. If you end up enjoying fishing from a kayak, I suggest upgrading.
  11. Interested to hear what they replied
  12. I try to take good care of my stuff so that it lasts as long as it can, but I don't baby it. Rod socks and reel covers are easy and inexpensive piece of mind. They're all tools meant to be used, not put on a mantle.
  13. Have you reached out to them? They've got great CS, and are really really receptive to feedback. They're one of those rare companies that listens to their customers.
  14. I order from Jig Shack or omfishingsinkers, and that's all they really sell, makes it easy. I usually just do one ~$30-50 order at the beginning of the season.
  15. I have no idea, it's not how I fish. Sounds like you're all set for gear.
  16. I'll work. People troll in kayaks all the time. Just be sure to buy a decent rod holder, and maybe a way to leash the rod to the holder so a decent bite doesn't take off with your gear.
  17. What Bankc said. Here's a chart showing just how flat the discharge is.
  18. This is an extremely valuable feature. Voltage meters for lead acid batteries won't be accurate with lifepo4, and the correct meters are often over $100.
  19. The entry price of lithium may seem steep, but keep in mind you'll get 4-5x + the longevity of lead acid. A lead acid might be good for 4-500 cycles if you take care of it well. You can get well over 2000 cycles out of lifepo4.
  20. There isn't. It's why we have more than 1 line available.
  21. I used to pitch jigs a lot, but where I live now, salt cedar trees are about the only thing to pitch to. They're just too much of a jungle to not hang up in for me. I have found a jig that gets through a lot easier for me thisyear, so maybe I'll do it more.
  22. That's not how the bait monkey works. The bait monkey now demands you buy a new rod to handle the bait
  23. If you can swing the extra $30, I highly suggest the SLX XT. It's an all around fantastic reel. I like my wife's SLX, but my XT's are worth every penny of the price difference. If you can't, the base is a really nice reel in that $100 range.
  24. The addition of the EVA was probably due to either cost, or comfort. I haven't heard of any, but they also may have had issues with the carbon handles, causing the switch. The carbon fiber at the butt is probably there to look cool.
