  1. One feature that wasn't important to me, but is now- in hull access. Adding things like a power pole, anchor wizard, lights, etc. is a pain in the rear without somewhere to get in the hull. My only option on my kayak is taking the rod holders out, and it sucks.
  2. Ah, I see, now. I had to zoom in some.
  3. It's happening from your knot repeatedly hitting the guide on its way out. The only way to stop that is by burning the end of the tag with a lighter.
  4. Yeah, I remember reading about the Torqueedo deal a few months ago.
  5. That's something I've never seen before, but I haven't fished a BOS, I wasn't aware of all of their rulebook. I wonder why they made that decision.
  6. No, there are definitely cheaper baits that work, but for every one of those, there's 15 that suck. I also wasn't looking at $50 as a hard number, it was just a generalization of cheaper baits. I left out soft baits because there really aren't many over $50 to begin with.
  7. I've never seen a trail not allow trolling a lure. I imagine it being difficult if you have to paddle, some tournaments allow motors, some don't. KBF and BASS allow electric motors. I think BASS even allows gas motors up to 3hp.
  8. Of all the overhyped swimbaits ever made, you literally named probably the most productive bait on the market. Bucca's baits catch boat fulls of fish from coast to coast. Trust me, there's tons of overpriced and over hyped baits out there, and I myself put a limit on what I'll pay for a bait now. But if he raised the price of the bullshad to $100, I'd still buy em. I get it, it sucks spending that much on a bait and not get bit. But this is a corner of the fishing world that has a large learning curve, sometimes you have to grind. And sometimes it's just not the right tool for the job. $50 barely gets you in the door fishing swimbaits. There's some decent baits for under that, sure. But a good portion of the budget baits are junk.
  9. I don't think a fire extinguisher will put them out, and I'm too lazy to Google it. LiFePo4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries are basically the safe alternative to Lithium Ion.
  10. The difference is the backing plates. it's like having a bolt holding things in, rather than a screw
  11. You're not going to have any issues standing on a BF. I've never once thought I was going to fall off or tip, and I've had it in some rough water.
  12. Maybe take a look at the Bluesky angler 360? If you fall off one of those, you're just a klutz.
  13. Google says no, unless you put a motor on it. There's only a couple states that require registration of paddlecraft.
  14. Possibly, and probable. I had someone explain to me how unless you really really beefed up the hooks, the design was destined to snap in the corner. I'm not an engineer, and he made sense, so I believe it.
  15. It was because they sucked. The shape of the bends made them weak. They didn't even bend out, they just broke.
  16. They were so good they went out of business ?.
  17. Yes. Normally I recommend buying the best you can afford, but if it's only being used a few times a year, I don't see the point in spending that much.
  18. If you need the third brake, turn it on. Any unbalance it causes won't be noticed
  19. Depends on how deep you're flippin, or how fast you want the fall rate to be. Sometimes I'm flippin salt cedars in 15 ft of water.
  20. Old, but still relevant. Lithium ion is inherintly unstable. The BMS prevents overcharging and thermal runaway. A faulty BMS is still a concern 8 years later.
  21. It gets me off the bank. To your original question, have you checked out the Daiwa Megaforce? You can find em cheap on Amazon. The Quantum Accurist also has a flippin switch, but probably isn't much better quality than the silvermax, in my opinion. Might also be able to find a Shimano Castaic cheap.
  22. 5', 8', doesn't really make a difference when the rest of your rods are 2' behind you. If you're like most kayakers, you cram a bunch of stuff in the limited space we have. Just gotta pay attention. Like Hammer said, cast side to side, not stern to bow. I usually slap the water more with my shorter rods, cause I try getting really low for those precise quiet casts. I'm almost always standing when I'm launching swimbaits, trying to get as much distance as I can.
  23. https://www.boatus.com/seaworthy/magazine/2012/january/hazards.asp Without a good battery management system, thermal runaway is a serious concern. The BMS is also what makes them more difficult to hook up together. Some BMS's won't support it. If it does, the batteries being connected should all be new, and they need to be within a certain voltage (I've been told .2 amps) of each other when hooked together. Otherwise the stronger battery will drain the weaker battery. That's how it was explained to me, anyway. I failed most of my science classes, so I highly recommend doing your own research.
