  1. With the mismanagement of the salmon/steelhead runs and dwindling returns, stocker trout seems to be ODFW's focus now. You're correct Oregon Native for the most part bass are still looked down upon, but some are coming to terms with the fact that warm water species are where fishing in Oregon is headed. I myself steer clear of stocked trout and the crowds they bring. Steelhead fishing on the coastal tributaries can be a serious test to ones patience with other anglers.
  2. I have several Presidents and have had great luck with them. Picked up a size 30 for my oldest daughters boyfriend for Christmas along with a Lamiglass rod. The setup should cover him for trout, crappie and work as a dropshot setup.
  3. Watched a couple of review videos from ICast. It does look well thought out and the price point is nice. Ive only owned a wider platform ( Nucanoe Frontier) so Im interested to see how stable it is in comparison. I really like the tackle storage just behind and to the sides of the seat.
  4. Nice yak and congrats getting the skunk off it.
  5. Sounds like that wife is a keeper! My wife doesn't fish but she does enjoy watching MLF with me.
  6. Its always been paddle power for me.
  7. If you were in Oregon i would say come over and use one of mine for a day or two. I think you will be happy with either one.
  8. I do not find my Frontier top heavy or tippy at all. There is a tall seat base for them and I wonder if someone use it and modified it to sit even higher. I saw a negative post a few years ago where someone was complaining that it wasnt stable, but they had the seat jacked WAY UP like a pedestal seat would be.
  9. I have 2 Frontiers but have not been in a Pursuit. Check Nucanoe's site for a dealer in your area and asked about a test paddle in each. I Like the Frontier and will not hesitate recommending it to someone. Its not a fast kayak but its super stable and I love how open it is.
  10. I have never been in an Old Town so I cannot compare the two. As for the Frontier i like it. Its stable with a great open platform. Its not a speed demon but for how and where I fish it works great. If possible see if there's a dealer close to you and setup a test paddle.
  11. If you have a track, I built a mount using a piece of 1" dowel. Drill a hole on the top for the rod. Drill a hole at the other end and hammer a coupling nut in. Use a track bolt to secure it to the track.
  12. I found a broken rod at the lake. I used the blank for the shaft and orange material for the flag. I built the base out of a 1' dowel. The only thing I needed to buy was a track bolt.
  13. I enjoy kayak fishing lakes and ponds in my area of Oregon. My main focus is on bass.
  14. I fly an orange flag. My PFD is beige so I will wear a bright orange hoodie or tee shirt depending on the temp.
  15. Whole nightcrawler hooked through the head with a single splitshot 18" above the hook.
  16. Ive never had an issue with someone fishing from their boat. I give eveyone boat or bank their space. Now wakeboats and jetskis are a different story. I had a wakeboat come within about 80' of me and turn so that his tsunami of a wave came right at me. He wasn't even towing a wakeboarder.
  17. Thanks guys. I have considered using the reflective tape and it sounds like thats the way to go.
  18. It depends on water conditions. I will toss spinners, bobber & jig, bobber and bead, old school drift fish with a corkie or yarnie.
  19. I am considering painting the blades of my kayak paddle yellow or orange for better safety and visibility, they are currently black. I run a orange flag so I am seen better, my Nucanoe Frontier is camo. My question is has anyone done this and if so how did the paint hold up? I figured on using something like the Rustoleum spray paint for plastics.
  20. Its the double uni for me.
  21. Definitely watch for used kayaks for sale in your area..
  22. I have scored a few spinnerbaits that were hanging in the trees. I wasn't intentionally looking for lures but the yellow and white stood out.
