  1. I wondered about some rabbit strips. I was thinking it couldn't hurt. I've tied smaller jigs with it.
  2. Not deep water. Fished this May in Ontario. We usually fish jerkbaits. This year jigs were productive. I was thinking 1/8 to 1/4. Water will be 8-15 feet deep.
  3. I haven't fished jigs for walleye at all. I'd like to tie a few for my next trip. What weight do most of you use if you are going with a bucktail jig? Do you even use a bucktail? Anything special I should think about? Thanks.
  4. I'm looking at a couple of rods for smallmouth, rock bass, and bluegill in local rivers. Fish are 1/2-3 lbs. I guess certain areas could be bigger fish, but I have rods for those. (2 Lews ML rods) Looking at a Duckett Crappie Slayer Light/Fast 7' or Favorite White Bird ML/Slow 7'3" or Lews Wall Marshall Speed Shooter 6'6" ML/fast. 1/32 - 1/8 oz finesse rigs and tubes are standard fare along with some small crank baits. 4-6 lb line. Fishing from a Kayak. I really liked the Duckett.
  5. My problem is that I need sunglasses with readers and everyone charges a premium for glasses with readers or you have to get a $29.95 pair that is questionable at best.

never heard of a Green Weenie
  7. Spinning: Denali Pryme 7' ML with a Bass Pro Johnny Morris Carbon Light 2.0 limited edition. Great set-up. roughly $120 + tax for the two. Casting: you'll have to look at all the BFS combos. I have a KastKing Spartacus and a Wright/McGill rod that I like. KastKing now has the Zephyr finesse reel, but it doesn't hold much line.
  8. I had the same question as others when looking for a Kayak. Which one is stable, but which one is most stable in small rivers? I fish some small rivers for smallmouth and rock bass. Can't get a pedal kayak. Water is too shallow at times. Occasionally have to take some short rapids with sharp turns. I have a Pelican Catch 10'. Its stable in those rapids with the seat in the low position, but not so much with the seat in the high position. I prefer fishing with the seat higher, but I dumped it a couple of times with the seat there. Am I just wishing for too much?
  9. I’ve got an impulse M/F, Wright & McGill M/M, Berkeley Lightning Rod M/F, and a St Croix M/F spinning rod that I have used in Canada with jerkbaits. Cannot complain about any of them. Depends on how much you want to spend. My Berkeley is the cheapest and has been great. Love my Impulse rod. Probably like the W&R the best because its a moderate action. Used the W&R in Alaska too. I have a Bass Pro 6’ casting rod I use with a Kast King reel for jerk baits too. Caught lost of walleye and pike on them. No need to spend a fortune, but you can if you want. Should mention that I use a Abu Veritas and a Falcon 5’6” with a Lew’s reel on small streams for smallmouth and rock bass. I also have a 6’ Lews ML that I like a lot for smaller rivers. Lots of cranks, jerks, crawdad jigs, and neds in 1/16-1/8 oz in those smaller waters.
  10. How similar are these to the Missile Ned Bomb?
  11. Brian Latimer. Hank Parker. Bill Dance. Denny Brauer.

  13. Love the Juke. I bought some for a trip to Canada and caught tons of walleye and smallmouth on them. It is my go to for the jerkbait bite up there. Would have used them again this year if COVID didn’t screw up the trip.
  14. Thanks. I miss those days. Too bad as a kid, you don’t realize how important those times are.
  15. Been kayaking local small rivers catching 8-10” rock bass, 10-14” smallies, 10-15” largemouth and numerous sunfish. Tearing it up on various Ned rigs. Yesterday it was all crowded style baits and one paddle tail. Baby Rage Craw, Z-man TRD craw. I can’t remember the name of the paddle tail, but its 2-2.5” long and it has a short skirt on it. I picked it up at Academy and it was killer yesterday. Days before that, I have fished some small Keitech paddle tails and a blue/black micro chatterbait. I love the micro chatterbait. Caught some on a Zoom Fat Albert fished like a swim bait on 1/8 oz head. I bought a Lew’s Xfinity spinning combo from Wal-Mart for $49.99. It’s a decent little reel, with a. ML rod. It has been a blast. 6 lb line and I can cast a country mile.
  16. It’s actually a spinning rod. I have all the rods I need for everything else; and then some. ? I guess my question should be why not use it for Ned, finesse jigs, etc...
  17. Years ago, I bought a Ml Mod Fast 6’6” rod. I want to use it as a finesse rod, but I always see fast or extra fast being recommended. What will I be missing out on of I use a mod fast rod for finesse fishing?
  18. I only river fish out of my kayak. I have a Pelican Catch 100. I only take 1 or 2 rods with me when I go because they are small rivers and some rapids run under low hanging tree branches and some rapids require some needle threading and hard paddling. I don’t want to manage multiple rods in all that. Last trip I caught most of mine on a blue/black micro chatterbait. Another river I fish, they seem to like chartreuse better. I catch most of them on a Zoom Fat Albert in chartreuse/black flake or brown with chartreuse tail. 1/8 oz head when the river is running hard keeps the bait down.
  19. I remember, as a kid, helping my dad pour his own worms. Mostly a curly tail pattern. What mold is this one?
  20. 3” Charlie Brewer slider?
  21. What worm is that? That looks like it would be killer on some local rivers I fish.
  22. Does anyone use Hi Viz braid without a leader? IF so, do you color part of the line or just go hi viz all the way to the lure?
  23. For those that use straight braid and use Hi Viz braid, do you color the end of the line or just run Hi Viz all the way to your knot? If you color it, how much do you color it?
