  1. X2 I have a Spartacus reel and a lightning rod. Hard to beat for the money. I used the Spartacus in Canada for Walleye with 8lb line and it worked like a champ.
  2. I have a KastKing Spartacus with 8# line on it. I'm going to put 6# on it and put it on a ML casting rod and use it for a Ned rod and see how it work. No reason not to try it. I prefer spinning, but I'm ok with trying casting.
  3. I just picked up two Sebile Slim Punchers on sale at BPS and noticed they come with single hooks for replacement. I've never fished a crank bait with a single hook. Not sure I will.
  4. I have been fishing for over 40 years. The only knot that I have ever had break on me was a Palomar knot. I know many love it, but not me. It's obviously a good knot, but not in my hands. I prefer a Fish-N-Fool, Eugene Bend, or Multifilament knot (only name I know, but may be something else). Started tying a uni knot when I started fly fishing as I couldn't get doubled line through the small eyes of the flies. Glad I learned something different.
  5. Awesome stuff. Tell us more about what you are using.
  6. Anyone like Solar Bat? Shady Rays? Grizzly?
  7. Bandit 100 or Cotton Cordell Big O
  8. Would be a great crappie rod.
  9. Thanks all. I'm working on some tupperware style containers now. I like the bags AJay.
  10. I have a 99 BassCat Pantera. Storage up front is not bad. I'm looking at putting some plastics in tupperware type containers and storing in a milk crate in one of the storage compartments.
  11. Having just picked up my 1st boat, I would love to see some photos of how you store/organize your plastics in your boat. Thanks in advance.
  12. 30# on the side. I will check to see if I can find any locally.
  13. I got a new to me 1999 BassCat Pantera. The rod lockers are a pain to open and hold open on the water. I read "somewhere" that you can turn the hydraulic arms around and they will hold the lockers open. However, I've installed mine both ways and no dice. I cannot get them to hold the lockers open. Do I need to buy something special? Am I missing something?
  14. I'm planning on tying up some with the 1/5 and 1/6 oz Z-Man Power Shroom heads. I think a mix of hair with some rubber legs with a TRD Hogz should be a great smallie bait.
  15. What is the difference in a casting jig vs a swim jig?
  16. Pros don't own a spot. Public waters are public unless closed for the event. It shows poor judgement to purposely "poach" a spot from someone else. However, I've fished some tournaments in my time and I've never seen a sign that says "This is Obi Wan's spot, don't fish here". I wouldn't fish a spot that I knew someone else had scouted. If I didn't know, I might go to a spot, but only because it was a good spot. Most non-tourney fishermen will not know and some of the tourney fishermen will not know that this is "his" spot. Also, there is a reason they draw for take off spots. There is a reason people buy fast boats. See who gets to the honey hole first. If he was on the spot and they moved in, its bad form. If he left it and they just happened to move in there, no fault on them. If they watched him fish it and truly thought he wasn't coming back, no fault on them. I would avoid a lake if I knew a big tournament was on it. However, if I'm there and I'm fishing, then I'm fishing and its my spot. I don't owe a thing to a pro. If they asked nicely, I would probably move on or back off and let them know I'm going to go back to fishing it when they pass through. If they aren't nice about it, I might drop anchor and go for a swim. They are not more important than me or anyone else recreational fishing on public waters.
  17. Thanks. I will look at it. The Denali Myriad is the rod I looked at. It is a "walleye" rod.
  18. Like the title says. Looking to get a 7'6" Med action moderate spinning rod. I found one Denali rod, but can't find it again. Any suggestions? Anyone use Denali?
  19. Agree. The cost of running up and down the road is high. They are going to use what they need to use to catch fish. If it's a sponsor's bait, great. If not, no need to mention it. If I was a pro, I would use whatever I needed to win. And I honestly am sick and tired of reading some of those reports because they come off as just an ad for the bait. I want to see more on why the chose a style or hit a certain spot. I'd be ok with saying he was throwing a finesse jig with a batwing trailer. There is more than one finesse jig and batwing trailer. I don't need or want them to do all the work for me. I like the discussions of color or technique more than specific brands of baits. The one on the homepage here about lipless cranks was a great example. It gave some ways to fish them that I hadn't really thought of. Does it really matter which one I use? Maybe. Maybe not.
  20. I think its easier to practice with bigger lines. That being said, if this is what you will be using most of the time, then keep practicing with these sizes. I like the Crazy Alberto knot. I like the way the FG looks, but it is too time consuming for me to tie. Crazy Alberto is easy and hasn't failed.
  21. I got some of those and some of the new Z-man Finesse Bulletz to try. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Finesse_Bulletz_Weedless_Jigheads_3pk/descpage-ZMFB.html
  22. I've struggled with the FG knot. I have a hard time getting a smooth knot. Seems to ball up on me. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'll have to keep studying these videos and keep practicing it. For now, I use the crazy Alberto knot.
  23. Good question. I've never considered gluing one together. I use wax on some of my multi-piece fly rods. They stay together very well with a little wax. When I was researching some fly rods, I wondered if I should get a one piece rod. The general consensus was that technology has improved and a new multi-piece rod has very few drawbacks compared to the ones of old. I know I've never had a fly rod fail at one of the connections. I prefer 1 piece bass rods, but I have some 2-piece rods and have never had any issues.
  24. I prefer crappie and walleye, but I've eaten a lot of bass in my life. Never once had one that tasted like mud. Those 12-15 inchers fry up nice and are tasty. Like others, if its legal, don't see the issue.
