  1. Keen Newport sandals. I’ve worn them for years. Got my first pair in Alaska. I was experiencing shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendonitis from too much running. It was suggested I but a pair of Keens and wear them as much as possible. Helped more than anything else I’ve ever done. Keen sandals have toe coverage, drain well, and are easy on the feet and the back. I’ll never be without a pair.
  2. All caught on a Ned. Most caught on a 4" Charlie Brewer worm with a 1/16th oz chartruese jig head (#6 hook)
  3. Just caught my personal best smallie in Canada on a Ned. 1/16 oz Bass pro head with a 3” Charlie Brewer worm. Caught lots of 3+ lb smallies on Neds and Tubes. Caught a couple of Walleye on them too.
  4. I had a great fishing friend that has passed on. We caught a bunch of salmon in Alaska with an Abu Garcia 5500 C3. I gave him one mounted on a plaque for his retirement ceremony. I want to have something engraved on mine. I’m using mine for smallmouth and walleye now. Anyone know of a place that will do that for me?
  5. Tell me more about these rods. I have a round Abu Garcia that is aching to be used. Bought it in Alaska and caught lots of salmon with it. Need to put it to use soon and I really like that yellow rod.
  6. What is your favorite color Fat Ika? I have a lake closse by that has lots of docks and I think rigging it weightless and letting it glide under the docks will be good medicine.
  7. Thats how I was planning to fish them. I have some Fat Alberts, but I’ll look into the Kalins as well.
  8. How are you fishing it? Jigging or swimming it? I haven’t thrown one much, but I keep thinking I should be.
  9. Any of the BPS spinning reels in 3000 size would work.
  10. Don't know who makes them but I have one of the Red/silver ones and two Carbonlite 2.0 special editons. Wouldn't trade them for any other reel. Smooth and pretty nice. I've had the Red/silver one for 3-4 years. great reel.
  11. Ive used this one for river fishing here quite a bit, but I'm taking one to Canada this year. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lew-s-Xfinity-XJ-6-Medium-Action-Spinning-Fishing-Rod-and-Reel-Combo/155659016?from=searchResults I also like the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 reel with a M or ML rod. Hard to beat if you don't want to spend too much. Denali AttAx is another good rod.
  12. I think it depends on where you go. The most productive jerkbait in Canada for me has been a Berkley Cutter 110 in chrome and bronze, a Husky Jerk 10 or 12 in Olive Ghost, and a Suspending Rattlin Rouge Jr in bronze. In Beaver Lake, a table rock shad color is the best. On the local rivers, the Husky jerk in Olive Ghost and Blue back seems to be best. I've never owned a lucky craft $20+ bait and probably never will. I'm having plenty of success with $8-10 baits.
  13. I go to Canada every year and fish jerkbaits and some swimbaits for walleye and smallmouth. When I started going, everyone said to just use spinning gear. So I did. I don't use any high lb test up there, but drag has never been an issue. My BPS spinning reels have 22 lbs of drag and haven't found myself needing more than that. I always hear about wind knots, but that's why I use spinning gear there. I get more issues with baitcasters in high wind situations. I can honestly say I cannot remember the last wind knot I had. Now, I take at least one baitcaster so I can switch arms I use. I need a good ML baitcasting rod before I go this year. I can see where dock skipping would be easier with a baitcaster. I will keep 2 or 3 baitcasters, but i'm moving mostly to spinning.
  14. Any of you converted to all or mostly spinning reels? I grew up with baitcasters, but find myself using spinning gear more and more and leaving the baitcasters at home. Anyone see a downside to this?
  15. I just bought a bunch from tackle warehouse. Love some of his stuff. Hate to hear this.
  16. Silver/blue and Olive Ghost have been great producers. I’ve use the 8 and the 10. I’ve been using Rogue Jr. and husky jerk 8 and 10. I think I have some Berkeley cutter 90s left too. The Cultiva, since I already have a few, will be next addition. I like the KVD jerkbaits, but don’t think the 100 gets deep enough.
  17. Already have. 2 hooks. I bought some cultivas but haven’t used them yet. May have to look at the Diawa.
  18. I’ve been using shorter jerkbaits in Canada for smallmouth. I’ve used some Rouge Jrs. Anyone have suggestions of other shorter/smaller jerkbaits that still get 4-6 feet deep?
  19. I'm in NW Arkansas. I have Beaver lake close by as well as the white river, Buffalo river, etc.... I currently have a 1999 BassCat with a 150 Merc. If you were trading for a boat that would work for rivers and lakes, what would you get? Rivers won't be that shallow, but not good for a heavy fiberglass boat.
  20. I never called him a has been. His accomplishments are well documented, but in the end its his opinion and I have mine. If I can be ridiculed for mine, he can be ridiculed for his.
  21. If you go to his Youtube page, you will find that this video was posted in Dec 2019. In Jan 2020, he posts one about the Ned rig and what it is supposed to imitate and says he uses it all the time. Hmmmm
  22. Agree with 12poundbass. Click**** Nothing more. I've watched this before and its just a bunch of assumptions. Not worth the time it takes to watch.
  23. 7' ML Denali Prime $59
