Favorite fat ika color

What is your favorite color Fat Ika?  I have a lake closse by that has lots of docks and I think rigging it weightless and letting it glide under the docks will be good medicine.

 Very easy.

Mine is green pumpkin w/black flake. I rig it both ways. Always on a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG.

Another great skipping bait is the Neko Macho. Which I gave up rigging as a Neko rig as I caught way more fish as a weightless TR. Both baits have enough mass to cast easily without weight. And while I’ve caught my share of bass working either one along the bottom, many times it gets slammed as soon as it hits the water. Both the Fat IKA and the Neko Macho are always in my tackle box.

No, those suckers are heavy

I've had the best luck with the watermelon with red/black flakes.  The watermelon chartreuse sure looks tempting to try out, though.  I'll have to try to find some of those.

112 out of 10 Times

Use a screw lock hook they last way longer.

Watermelon red flake, but that's kind of a 'Texas in the grass' thing. Behind that it'd be GP black flake. I have some of the white/silver ones, I think they will make a great dying shad, but haven't had the moment where it seemed like the right thing to dig out.

The best hook, by far, is a 4/0 Hayabusa WRM 958. They have them at tackle warehouse. Nice wide gap, just the right length. Replace the screw lock with a size large owner CPS. I fished a single IKA across at least 15 fish one day this spring, and the only reason I had to change it out is because I ripped off a bunch of the arms clearing some grass. It feels like a 4/0 owner beast hook but in a smaller wire and a little less gap. Also it is a coated hook which I think is a major plus.
