  1. When I was much younger, my brother and I fished nightcrawlers for everything. Here's what we did: take a large fat crawler, use a worm blower or a hypodermic needle and give him a shot of air. Not too much air, just a shot. Put a split shot weight about 12 to 15" on your line, so the crawler floats up off the bottom. Cast him out and reel very slowly, pausing occasionally. The bass love em.
  2. It sounds like your rods/reels are good. Practice your form, ant timing your release on your casting. Keep at it. Practice will improve your casting in a huge way.
  3. Carpenter for a long time. Taking retirement in about 2 months.
  4. I'm still hanging in there with Big Game also. 12 to 15lb for my casting reels is what I've used for years now.
  5. You probably didn't get a good hook set.
  6. When I was young, I worked outdoors much of the time in hot weather. It was common for guys to take they're shirts off. Most would burn, then get a deep tan. Bad move. Wear sunscreen, and cover exposed areas. Wear a light cotton shirt, or one of the newer UV style shirts, sunglassed, a good hat etc. A repeated bad will come back to haunt you. Stay covered out there.
  7. Always a plastic worm. Various sizes, styles, and a few colors. A light T rig is my confidence bait. It's caught more fish for me than all other lures combined.

I've been reading up on some crawfish baits. Im curious about the discontinued Mad Man craw baits. I've never fished the Mad Man craws, but looking at photos, these look very close to the Yum Bug, which I have used. Were the Mad Man baits a hollow tube style crawfish bait? I've heard these were excellent baits years ago. For those that have used them, what was your favourite rigging method?
  9. Plastic craws( various), t rig worm, spinnerbait.
  10. I like to cast to larger blow down trees where the tops lay over deeper water.
  11. As Catt stated, with the senko, fish them weightless, slowly near bottom. My choice was a light trig plastic worm, I would fish this one with slow hops near the bottom . A straight tail bait might work best here.
  12. I think some folks still like to rig a t rig with a brass weight and glass bead. For this type of t rig, they're probably the most popular weights.
  13. Happy Mothers Day to the moms today. Being a mom can be a tough job at times, and they deserve a day to recognize all that they do.
  14. Med action Fenwick HMG. Shimano Sahara 2500 spinning reel. There are lots of other options also
  15. I like Gamas, size 1/0 to 3/0. Straight shank if I can get them
  16. Yes, I still use them sometimes. And I always like the grape color. My best with the Roboworms are Folstead Special, MM111, and Blk/Grape. All have worked well.
  17. On the days when the fish are feeding aggressively, almost anyone can catch a few. The real skill for a bass fisherman is catching the fish on the days when they're not feeding aggressively, on the toughest days. True or False?
  18. One of my very favourite worms! Purple and grape in any brand are killer!
  19. Yes. I can't seem to get any good size fish. So far, a dinkfest.
  20. I tend to agree with J Francho here. Banging around, getting too close, loud noise etc, probably puts more fish off than line does. I've caught bass on 15lb mono line in clear water, then, had other other times when I needed a lighter line to catch them. When the fish are really aggresive, which is rare, it probably doesn't matter. I even read one article where a guy said that a bright yellow or lime green braid can help bass track your bait and works better. So, I'm still not sure.
  21. As a kid, all I ever used was nightcrawlers. I often caught bullhead catfish with a few bass mixed in.
  22. I use a med weight rpd
  23. T rig or lightweight shakey head. I like 1/8 oz. Slowly hop it along the bottom.
