As the season progresses, do you get ridiculous tan lines?

Just a fun thread.

last year my tan lines were crazy.  Naked I looked like I was wearing white shorts and white socks.  My arms were light but my hands looked like I dipped them in motor oil.    Like a reverse Mickey Mouse hands look.  Haha.   I had white raccoon eyes.

this year I’m staying much more covered up.  Long pant only.  Real shoes.  Gaiter and gloves. Oh, copious use of SPF 50 anyways.

pics are not necessary:)

It's mostly my feet.  When it's too hot to walk on the boat without shoes I wear sandals.

my worst sunburn in my youth was the tops of my feet.  lessoned learned!  I had to wear flip-flops to school.  my feet were tore up. :)

I wear sun block on arms legs and face . I'll remove my shirt for only about an hour at a time . I cant apply sunblock to my back . I try to keep an even tan but end up with a mild farmers tan .

Not so much from fishing, I wear different things, cycling jersey and shorts on the other hand line up in the same exact spot, farmers laugh at me. I've started wearing sun sleeves more in the last couple of years.

There no reason today to get sunburns. SPF sun locks work, SPF sun clothing work, SPF wide brim hats work if you use them.

Everyone is different regarding tolerance to the sun, no one is immune to skin cancer caused by sun exposure. How many hours is safe, it adds up over years until your number comes up.

How life threatening can skin cancer be? It can kill you if it metastasizes.

Nothing fun about sunburns.

I haven't had a sunburn since my teens.  maybe early college days.

I'm just chewing the fat about the fun tan lines.

No.

Tan lines on me now means I was careless and more importantly, selfish.

Someone that loves me dearly and means more to me than life itself, needs and depends on me to be around as long as I can.

I used to not care so much when I was younger about getting a little sunburned. Then I visited a dermatologist a couple years ago and she said that some skin on my forehead was already damaged by UV rays. That was a real eye opener. Now I watch my exposure much more carefully and apply sunscreen more religiously.

Vitamin D from the sun is obviously very beneficial but UV rays are not. You can still get sun and be smart about it at the same time.

I tan quite easily but it takes a lot to give me a really bad burn. It's funny this is the first year I've gotten tanlines on my wrist because I started the season so early and have been wearing sweatshirts for a couple months so my hands have gotten a head start. I'm fairly good about using sunscreen but I also have a bunch of sun gear I'll break out in the worst months of the summer. But no matter what I do all my hobbies are outdoor so whether it's from fishing or something else I always end up with a bad farmers tan.

I don’t farm much but I always have a farmers tan and a red neck. Being up on a black or white roof of a commercial building is the worst.

sunscreen works great, you can tell when you miss a spot! The lotion is very affordable (spray not so much)

my most hilarious tan lines are always from hunching over in a canoe all day and my belly fat rolls create this ridiculous star pattern that makes me look like a cancelled Dr Seuss character

I'm trying to be much more responsible the past several years...using sun protection clothing or sunblock. Now if I get a bad sunburn I just fell like a dumb@$%.

By this time of year, I am covered up. I sunblock my face, or wear an SA face mask. I wear long sleeves or SA arm sleeves. I always wear a hat, too. Had about 10 things removed by the dermatologist last year. I don’t want to get those speckled redneck arms that run in my family.

I got sunburned from a picture of the sun in a science book...

Im usually good about it. Pay attention to my hands now more than anything

Flip flop fishing tan.

Sounds like my fiancé, she’s got German blood and blonde hair/blue eyes. She has to be quite vigilant when we journey to Florida, she got lobster legs bad the first time we kayaked down there

When I was young, I worked outdoors much of the time in hot weather. It was common for guys to take they're shirts off. Most would burn, then get a deep tan. Bad move. Wear sunscreen, and cover exposed areas. Wear a light cotton shirt, or one of the newer UV style shirts, sunglassed, a good hat etc. A repeated bad will come back to haunt you. Stay covered out there.

Hit a pond while out running errands, so I was wearing boat shoes and no sunblock.  The bite was insane, so I was there for like 4-5 hours.  There already was a base tan from normal summer hiking, but the tops of my feet are normally covered so the tan line was crazy sharp.

Even though I was wearing rain gear as a wind break, neck gaitor for warmth, and a knit hat and hood in the high 40's weather last week, my face below my glasses and above the neck gaitor got a pretty decent tan in one afternoon just from water glare.  I have to be better at remembering to fully cover up, even on the cold days.

Same here. I get 'zebra stripes' from my sandals that stick around until late Jan.

Am I the only one with polka-dot tan marks from Crocs? Not so much this year, but it's been pretty awesome in the past. I have constant raccoon eyes. The people I deal with at work all think I ride a motorcycle constantly, so I just go with that.

Work outdoors i.e. a carpenter year round for 25 years, wearing mostly shorts and a t-shirt.

Even after retiring for over 10 years, the stupid tan line on my ankles is still there.

Also surfing for 40 years with certain wet suits can make for some goofy tan lines too.

Those dumb things last forever. Had to take my socks/Crocs off to launch in low water last year and never put the socks back on. Foolish in my part, I almost always and covered head to toe.

This! But I also cannot stand dealing with sunburns for days on in especially at work.
