Could You Make Do With Only One Rod...??
Yes. I do it a couple times a week while bank fishing. If you need to pause and tie on a different bait, no big deal. In my boat or canoe, I carry more.

Bass Hunting
I don't have FFS, and won't be getting it. If someone has it that's fine, and it won't affect my fishing either way. When FFS first came out, I wondered if it would divide us. In some ways I think it already has.

The K.I.S.S. Principle
It's been said here on BR that if you have the bite dialed in, you don't need all that much tackle. I fish from a boat, and the bank, usually a couple of bank trips per week. Over the years, I've tried various tackle boxes, tackle packs, and a small backpack to carry tackle for bank fishing. I wasn't really happy with any of these options. Yesterday, I bought a small camo waist pack that was originally made for hunting. Mine has two zippered compartments, one larger and one smaller. With two Plano 4' x 6' boxes, and one smaller box, I can carry everything I need for a two hr bank trip. You can wear this pack in front, on the side, or in the back. This small waist pack, along with one rod, will be my bank fishing setup this season. This three dollar ( on clearance) waist pack should work out perfectly. What will you be using to carry your tackle from the bank this coming season?

Best Budget Spinner Bait
I'll second this one Catt. White, green, or black. I like the 1/4 oz model. Hard to go wrong.

Prespawn lures?
If you type in prespawn in the search bar, there's tons of info on this topic.

Have you ever considered that the ineffectiveness of hyperrealism in baits is due to bass’ inability to see beyond a certain level of detail?
I fish a lot of clear water, and ultra realistic baits are not needed. I've done better without them. Over the years, there's been thousands of fish caught on a jig and #11 Uncle Josh pork frog. Not the most realistic crawfish imitation by a long shot. But, the bass like em.

Anti-Reverse switch?
Many of the companies are doing away with the AR switch. Diawa still has them on many reels.

A Tough Little Zebco
My grandson has a friend who goes fishing with him. Between school, and part time jobs, they fish as much as they can, hitting a 5 acre farm pond close to home. Aiden has a casting outfit, and a spinning rod. Both are decent quality. His friend fishes with an older Zebco Omega Underspin which I think was made in the mid 1980s. He uses a med/light spinning rod from Academy, and spools with 6lb Trilene XL. He brought his outfit over yesterday to show me, and see if I could clean and lube the small reel for him. We cleaned and lubed it, and spooled fresh 6 lb. mono. Test casting in the yard, the small reel is smooth, easy to operate, and has a smooth drag. What surprised me was the photos he showed me of fish he's caught with this outfit. Numerous bass up to 4 pounds, large crappie, and bluegill, and a 12 pound catfish. He's using 4" Senko, Zoom grubs, Beetlespins, Kellys worms, and 4" curly tail worms, rigged with a split shot. The reel was a hand me down, given to him from his grandfather. These older USA made Zebcos are tough, durable reels. I've heard good and bad things about the newer ones, and most bass anglers look down on them. I wouldn't hesitate to use this one myself. I still have my Zebco 33 which I received as a Christmas gift in 1966.It still works, even though I haven't used it in many years. Does anyone have any experience with the Zebco Omega models?

Plastic Worms For 2024
We have so many color choices now. When I first got into bass fishing, I had an older much more experienced angler tell me about the color purple. Purple has been the best color for me over the years. It's worked in clear and stained water. Roboworm has some really good purple shades, but they all can be good.

Struggling!
My grandfather would say" some days are diamonds, some days are stone". I have struggled many times, especially in the early season. I've learned what didn't work, in the prevailing conditions. Sometimes, the bass just don't hit. But, there's always another day.

Kansas City
If this post is not allowed, I apologize. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl. It's fantastic for Chiefs fans. Today, there was a HUGE parade in downtown Kansas City. And, at the end of the program, there was a shooting. So far, ten to fifteen people were shot. Three were shot critically, and one person has passed away. This was a horrible, cowardly, and sickening thing to do. Please try to remember the victims in prayers. Now, I don't even care who won the Super Bowl. I don't want to hear about these things anymore.

Plastic Worms For 2024
It's a little early here in North central Missouri just yet. Weather has been warm, then, cold, freezing again. I'll be using plastic worms for much of the time once I start fishing. So far here's my own choices: Zoom Trick and finesse worms. Roboworm, 4.5' ,and 6". Mr. Twister Phenom, 6'. Brewers Slider worm, Culprit, 7.5, and 10'. I always lean to purples, blues, and motor oil. My rigging is Texas rig, Shakey head, and Slider head. What plastic worms do you plan on using this season? Do you have any new worms or colors your going to try?

Sleep
I'm 66 and get about 6hrs per night. I go to bed early enough, but after so many years of getting up at 5:00 I'm awake at that time.I may try to go back to sleep for an hour, but usually can't. So, up by 5:30 to make coffee.

Bass and other animals (some dumb questions)
I used to night fish a small lake years ago from the bank. One of the best spots was near an old dock that had a light that shined down in the water. Bats would circle around the light, feeding on insects. The light also attracted minnows in the water, and the bass were always there, on hot muggy nights. Crappie fisherman have used floating lights for years to attract minnows, which in turn attracted crappie. The same thing attracted bass too.

Twitch baits
By " twitch" bait, do you mean long minnow baits like a Rapala or Smithwick Rogue?

Anybody using Marabou Jigs for bass?
My water is clear, so black and white are mostly what I use. You could also thread on a tail section of plastic worm, to get more action, and a bigger look.
