Drag issue
Thanks for the info. I am just so weirded out that this is even happening. I just Q-tipped the spool and shaft with oil... Hope that doesn't add resistance. Everything seemed smooth. Can you PM me a website/invoice for your normal rates/shipping. My dad has some older reels I did not want to touch.

Drag issue
I just took apart the side plate on several reels and cleaned and lightly oiled everything on that side including the spool and shaft. I did not touch anything on the handle (business end) and now i have a few reels that do not have any drag. It just slips all the way out. Only thing I can think of is that I did put 1 drop of oil on the pinion gear and it could have gotten the drag plates lubed up. IF that is the case can you give me the best process to get it off. OR if there is anything else I need to look into please let me know. Thanks

Whopper Ploppers
I am not a big fan of snaps. I am more worried about the line twists. I was thinking about a ball bearing swivel or barrel swivel. Not sure if I want the extra knots in there.

Whopper Ploppers
I am talking about vegetation under the water that gets chewed up and is sparcley floating around that happens to find my trebles. Obviously not throwing it into lillies

Whopper Ploppers
So I am late to the scene with the whopper ploppers and I only threw the 90's last year. Did OK had my fair share of issues with them but with BassResource's most annoying latest sale thread and some great sale prices I went all in and bought 3 110's and a 130. These things look like a load to throw. Gonna go 50lb braid on 7' mh rod.---Is the rod too light? I am pushing the limits of the rod description Also do I need to worry about a swivel since I am using braid? I am in a weedy lake and can only imagine launching these things and getting a tangle right away. TIA

What seems to never work for you...
Comes off as of casting it off? I use more of a sweeping/roll cast with a Spinnerbait to avoid the line catching the blades/wire.

More tackle or new Rod/Reel?
I would agree. I started with more is better and once I had several set ups for what I wanted to do I waited and waited until I had the funds to upgrade. I now have 2 upgraded set ups and around 10 other simple combos I fish a lot with.

I have not noticed a failure on my set ups, but I could not speak of anything at the cellular level.

I also dab super glue on it- if I tied it the night before.

mismatched?
Thank you this really helped me. Follow up question/thought: If I am flipping with a M/H rod and 50lb braid I usually turn my drag all the way up (since I want to horse that fish out of the cover) Is it too much on that rod if its only rated at 20lbs? I usually don't hammer hooksets home but feel like I cross their eyes enough that I should have already been buying a lot more rods. Is there an equation or something to do this? I have never seen a 50lb drag but think that I may have my drag turned up way too much on all my set ups. Sounds like it is smarter to just turn my drag down some and lose a fish or two, to save a rod.

Braid diameter question
That is kind of what I am looking at does the longer cast, lure action, and line drag outweigh the 30 lbs break strength, assuming more abrasive resistant, and less spool digging.

Anyone leave a bobber stop on their rod
I always peg. I do however use a glass bead under the weight (tungsten or copper) for some rattling and knot protection.

Braid diameter question
I have noticed that a lot of people on here are using various break strength on their braids while stating that 50 lb is overkill. Most of my baitcasters with braid have 40-50 lb on them. The only reason I chose one or the other is because of price/availability at the time of purchase. Most braid is relatively VERY close in diameter. Looking at 20 lb braid it is .010'' while the 50 lb braid is .014''. Do you think that the .004'' (or .1mm) is a big deal? My thinking is that I would rather have 30 lbs of break strength for .004''. What are your thoughts?

Sunglasses lens opinions
I did not want to piggy back off a thread I was just reading but was interested in actual lenses for sunglasses to fish with. I have a pair of Oakley M frames and wondered what lens color/tint is best for fishing. Trying to avoid the extra cost of frames. TIA

spot lock problems/ minn Kota issues
I had spotty issues with spotlock on my Terrova as well. Mine more or less lost signal and then went crazy and would turn off. It only happened two or three times, but it was enough to make me wonder. Hearing this issue popping up gives me concerns.
