  1. I am going to take a crazy jump and try to use braid to flouro on a spinning reel. I was wondering what # test I should use. I plan on fishing it with a 6'6'' M rod. My lake is clear with only vegetation on bottom (and docks) and do not need the strongest of lines but prefer 6-12 flouro for most of my applications and was not sure if how heavy braid I should go as most of the braid I use is .001 inches difference (0.0254 MM difference) for 10 pounds of breaking strength. Is this negligible or do I need to be down in that 10-15lb braid area?
  2. I thought I had an addiction... Now I am just jealous.
  3. With all of the rain (crazy amounts around here) so early in the season I have heard can cause a fish kill. I heard Lake Delavan had a fish kill because of this and was evident last week at a tournament- Bass and Bluegill floating all over.
  4. On a side note- I have also never caught a fish on a chatterbait until I bought the Fogy from Seibert Outdoors! I have re-ordered twice since then and my bass fishing team caught most of their fish on it.
  5. They had them at my bass pro shops yesterday!
  6. Thanks I just picked up my first ones 110, 110+ and jr and haven't used them yet. Thanks for the advice- I myself am pretty light tackle when it comes to jerkbaits but I frequently bend them with pliers- so thanks for the heads up!
  7. Just get dull over time or have they rusted/deformed?
  8. I do not think it can. I know last years models were not able to as I had to upgrade to the Terrova myself for both options.
  9. UHhhhhhHHHhhh I COULD use these.... but do I NEED them? OK OK OK Take my $
  10. I was fishing earlier this week in SW MI and got my first of the year- Ice did find its way back on overnight but the sun took it off. Hopefully, this weather keeps it away for a while now
  11. What is this?- I do retie usually when I go back out but I always test the knot beforehand. Why does this happen?
  12. Outlet Bait and Tackle has their 1.99 sale going on... 1.99 for Mann's 3 and 3.5" paddletail minnow for 30-50 count got me to buy.
  13. This is what I do, but mine has horizontal dividers. 8 slots total.
  14. I have a few entry level glasses in multiple colors and prefer the amber ones. When I am out on the open water (lake Michigan) I prefer the blue mirror.
  15. I cannot wait to run home and check if the 1 sebile flat shad I have is suspending (I didn't know these were even invented). Bait monkey here I come! This site is amazing! (and terrible)
  16. I like this- now it lead me to think that a weight peg will work as well and since those come in packs of 1000's just not sure if it will interfere with the barb and be too small. Thanks everyone!
  17. This picture is exactly what I want to do. Do you mean like hole punch the lid/plastic bottle and use it... I think this could work Yes- Trying to do something a little smaller for a more finesse approach. Just has to basically go past the barb and not go back over the top.
  18. I am looking for some type of plastic to hold a screw lock onto the bend of the hook (not the eye)- Basically a piece of plastic similar to a spinnerbait trailer hook keeper from falling off the original hook. I have only come across the rapid fishing solutions "hook all" and was not really interested in paying that price for something that I think might work. The spinnerbait plastic tubing ID is too wide- does anyone else have any ideas? TIA
  19. Where is this at?
  20. Usually this will not happen at the end of a very long cast but rather in the beginning/middle of the cast- It happens from a lot of tension being on the line while the line on the reel does not have a lot tension when it was put on the spool. This tension difference allows the tight line to find/create gaps for it to pull into under the previously spooled line Knowing what you did on your previous cast has helped me. If I know I tightened my drag down and caught a fish/rip a snag out the last cast flipping it may have dug into the spool. Usually that is somewhat close and is easy to just turn and not try and launch the bait out there but rather swing it out to get past the dig. Using heavier line will help a ton, setting up your drag properly and i have heard you can even use tape at the end of the farthest cast you can make (add 10 yards to be safe) so that the line cannot bury itself under whatever you are not using in the cast (just remember when you change baits this can be different)
  21. Also don't forget to use your drag- if you wrench it down (just because its braid) it will snap. Like the previous posters mentioned the forces get very high quickly and with no stretch- it snaps. Setting your drag will help on hook sets as well as if you use a leader- just pair it up with proper lb test for what you are doing. I use 40-50 for heavy vegetation- casting 15 for light vegetation- spinning 6 for crappie- spinning only have had an issue with casting when the braid dug under itself and locks it up on the reel. I learned to address my digging in issues after casting off a few baits.
  22. Just reread the above post- disregard
  23. Wow! Thanks for showing that to me as I have not looked it up in years! I could have sworn Illinois was like MI where I have been stopped before and they said that it did not count towards your PFD count (this was a few years back). I just looked up MI too and it seems I would still need a type 1,2, or 3 in the boat with me as the type 5 does not count towards the pfd count. Thanks again!
  24. I cannot even wear these legally in Illinois as they are not type 3. Still perplexed as ever as I scroll through older threads and laws. I am assuming that the USCG determines the level based on buoyancy #'s. I saw a few level 3's that were 35 and 40lbs while this is a 5 @28 lbs.
