Weightless texas rig - casting distance
Weightless plastics - whether it's a T-Rigged or wacky rigged worm or a fluke on an unweighted swimbait hook - I go with a Medium/Fast spinning rig.

beer. i am NOT judging. i love beer.
No alcohol on Bass Trek - period.

Ain't She Purty...
They did the Pilot, but it wasn't picked up....so all we have is the Pilot. Same with 2004's 'The Robinsons' directed by John Woo, which wasn't picked up. This is Part 1 of 5 - you can find most of the rest through searches

Any Berkley X9 Braid Users ?
I run 10# X9 in White on one of my crappie rigs. Seems strong enough, smooth and limp enough...I get great distance with a ML/MF rod and 1/10oz cranks. I don't think you have to up-size any...just use the same #test you normally would. Example of really thin line is Sufix Nanobraid....now THAT'S some thin line.

Who doesn’t use senkos?
The slight pinch near the head makes me think it's a Mr Twister 4" Ringworm.

Eating while fishing
If I'm doing a full day, I'll bring water, ice coffee, bolthouse, a sandwich and a couple snacks (Ho-Ho's, Twinkies, etc). I'll anchor the boat for lunch and have my sandwich, rest I'll eat/drink on the move.

Ain't She Purty...
Or he saw the TV Movie (failed series reboot) staring Jerry O'Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard...ya, I saw it - it was actually not half-bad.

Talk me into fishing tomorrow
I'd have to go further than that...then of course I'd turn into a lobster.

How often do you change line?
I occasionally dig out the Avocet RZ combo I bought on Amazon years ago...cost me all of $30 for a 2000 size reel with a 6'6" ML/F rod...don't come much cheaper. Hand closing the bail...I rarely have line-twist problems even on that 'piece of cheap plastic'...so it's not the 'cheap combo' that's the issue.

Talk me into fishing tomorrow
^ Got that straight NWS is saying 93 still for Thursday...which is my normal boating day...looks like another week that Bass Trek stays dry.

ProFISHency 7'6" HF casting rod
That lure rating puts it more the MH category...probably be good for jigs and pitching into moderate or light cover. I wouldn't use it for heavy cover or punching.
-
Best all around heavy rod
^ I'm still using my Aird-X H/F for frogs - only updated for pitching a year ago with a Fury 765. The Aird-X also works for heavier football jigs dragged across rocky bottoms. It's actually a pretty good all-around heavy, and I'm still debating whether to replace it for frogging as it does that quite well.

MLF... Slight touch ??
^ I'm with Andy and Steve - I watched one MLF event and the 'big names' got so many byes it was ridiculous.

Reel size question
Sounds like you got a 20 (500 size) or 25 (1000 size) I have a 25 that I use on one of my crappie rigs - a couple 30s that I use for bass.
-
Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
In just a few years, the hardware will be old enough that you can't install the latest software update, so you'll have to upgrade the hardware.
-
Reel size question
2500 is more than sufficient...I even use a 2500 on a MH/F rod. If you go Pflueger - start at the Supreme...I wouldn't even bother with the President or President XT. Also note that Pflueger sizes are not standard - for a 2500, you want a Pflueger 30 size...for a 3000, it's a 35 from Pflueger.

Better Fluorocarbon Line
^ Tom...I'm happy to catch decent fish...I have no plans on pursuing an IGFA Line Class Record...that way lies long hours and much frustration

Storing mono line
That'll work fine. Myself - I 'snagged' a lower cabinet when my neighbor was redoing his kitchen (with permission...) and I use that for my line and reels during the off-season. It's in the basement in the 'fishing room'...yes, I have a room down there that's delegated to my tackle and nothing else.
-
How often do you change line?
Mono, FC and Hybrid all deteriorate under sun and/or heat conditions. All I take on the boat are small 'filler' spools of what ever line I use for leaders on braid...and like my tackle and rigs, they come out the end of a trip My main spools stay in my dark/cool basement.
-
Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
I feel lucky - my two 'best' reels are a pair of Pflueger Patriarchs...one in 7.1:1, the other in 7.9:1...from ALF's used area for under $80 each. Other than a bit of boat rash, both are in perfect condition.
-
How often do you change line?
I had to train myself to close the bail manually after years of my Mitchell 320 and Pflueger 640. Those older reels had bail engagement systems that forced you to turn the handle to disengage the 'lock' to let the bail close.

Florida Boy Smallmouth Fishing
^ Mick - I've had fish pull a Z-Man Finesse TRD off the keepers of both Z-Man Ned Heads and Owner Block Heads...which both have 'good' wire keepers...that's why the glue.

Florida Boy Smallmouth Fishing
There's a reason my 'fishing tool' box has a bottle of Gap Filling CA glue in it.
