I'll go a bit over - but not much. My Fury 704C I'll go up to 1-1/4, but I won't go 'swinging for the fences' on a cast. If I'm casting something over the weight rating, it's an easy cast, not a hard swing.

You should have put in some cisterns for the next drought...you guys are getting way over-wet.

Like stated, a MH/F rod is pretty universal. While it's slow for how I fish...bottom contact is probably where I'd slot that one in. T-Rigs, Jigs, Tokyo/Jika in moderate to light cover. 15#-17# FC or 30#-40# braid with 17#-20# FC leader.

10# Hi-Vis Sufix 832, 4# Sufix Siege leader....start with 24", replace when it gets under 10"

Go with the Light. I got no issues casting even a F03 on my L/F rod, remember also the plastic adds to the weight so that 1/32 jig plus plastic is gonna be 1/16 or more total, even a #0 Aglia or Comet cast fine on it.

Need - More - Practice

I'm quite familiar with Maine's climate - when I lived in Mass many years ago, one of our summer vacation spots was in Maine.

That type of weather makes it just as hard for me to fish as what we got going on here now...I wilt when it gets much above 85 degrees and/or 70% humidity.

Another skipping lure on spinning for me - my Reflexions A MH/F is rated 12#-25# line - 3/8-1.25oz - with a Supreme 30 loaded with braid, I got that covered.

I'll take that over what we got going on.

Have been for 56 years now. While this coming year's arsenal has 10 baitcasters, I also have 3 spinning rigs for bass and another 4 spinning rigs for panfish...so almost as many spinning as casting. I practice-practice-practice...still can't get the hang of skipping with casting gear, but skip fine with spinning...reason I have an MH/F spinning rig in my arsenal. I personally think spinning will never go out of style - in fact there's bass fishermen out there who won't touch casting gear, doing all their catching on spinning gear.

Gut em, ice em, then ship em up here....I LOVE broiled rainbow.
