Thinking about a soft case for lots of fishing rods.
And I regularly had 10-12 in the canoe. Hate to think how many rigs I'll be able to get into the F-9 once it's done.

Braid+leader vs floro
I'm kind of all over the board for line on my reels. 1 BC and 1 Spinner - Nylon-mono 1 BC and 1 Spinner - YZH 2 BCs and 2 Spinners - Braid 1 BC and 2 Spinners - FC Occasionally will put an AbrazX leader on the baitcaster braid, but normally it's just tied direct. Spinners with braid always get a leader of InvizX.

Reel Storage Tip
And the drag - especially if it's a lower-price unit that uses oil-felt rather than fiber drag washers. Spinning reels too...back off the drag before storage.

Evening fishing vs. Dawn fishing.
Mid-level...I did a paper much like that for my sophomore year limnology class.

Do you carry cash?
My debit card, which I use mostly (don't buy it if you can't pay for it) doesn't have rewards. My one credit-card does - 5% - that's only used when needed. The main place I'm spending money now for the boat work has an 11% rebate going. I could get more there by using the card, but the card is held in reserve in case of large/necessary expenses (truck breaks down, etc) My credit score? Over 740...that's all I'll say

How Many of You Cut School to Go Fishing?
I didn't skip much in college either - not through a sense of responsibility, but because the classes that I'd consider skipping (English Comp, Interpersonal Communication, etc) were usually flanked by classes I didn't want to skip cause they were teaching me things about lakes/rivers/streams/ponds. Classes like Limnology, Freshwater Invertebrates, Aquatic Plants, etc - Aquatic Biology major.

Couldn’t tell difference between my cheaper and more expensive rod….
Not hardly - it wasn't a decision I made by choice - it was a decision made by necessity. Don't talk of things in MY life you have no knowledge of.

Advice on floating lure for carolina rig
If I want a plastic to float that normally doesn't - I inject a little air into it at various spots. I've got a 5ml hypodermic needle I use, but this would work

Couldn’t tell difference between my cheaper and more expensive rod….
I'm not going to go into all the details - but yes...because of circumstances I AM limited to a fixed income.

Couldn’t tell difference between my cheaper and more expensive rod….
Excepting those of us on fixed income because of retirement. I see posts where people are saying "You need this rod to be effective". Sorry, I'm not spending 1/2 or more of my yearly fishing budget on one piece of equipment. Now if someone wants to gift me a Legend, Xtasy or NRX, I'd be pleased as punch.

Couldn’t tell difference between my cheaper and more expensive rod….
Then I'm really in trouble as the most I've paid for a rod is still under $100 - Fury on sale.

How Many of You Cut School to Go Fishing?
Lived across the street from the lake when in Bemidji and we kept our boat tied up at the cross-street neighbor's dock...they had room for three...theirs on a lift, ours and another neighbor's tied up with bumpers. I also had a 17' heavy fiberglass canoe (sucker weighed about 120lbs empty) that I just pulled up on shore. Never cut school, but fall and late spring (season opened only 2-3 weeks before school ended for the year) you could find me out in the boat or canoe the evenings or weekend day that I didn't work. So 2-3 evenings and either most of Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Do you carry cash?
Hitting Home Depot or Menards for parts for the trailer rebuild...I'm paying cash...so ya.

Handle loose
Drag system under the handle has to have the washers in not only the right order, but also the right orientation. What it sounds like is that one or more of the washers is 'upside down'.

Best budget/high entry level equipment by application?
Far as line is concerned Dump the Vanish - it's cheap, yes...and that's the issue. I'd keep it simple and stick with 3-4 lines instead of being all over the board Braid - Sufix 832 - good braid, very round which is important for spinning reels, and not too expensive FC - Seaguar InvizX - fairly easy to manage, especially if you use KVD L&L Mono - Trilene XL or Big Game - both high quality, inexpensive monos For a Hi-Vis mono - Sufix Elite...I've used it and it's a good quality mono that's still fairly inexpensive.

My New Old Town Sportsman PDL 106 + Video
I know it's a little late - but when making custom-fit items from 'expensive' materials...the standard is to make a template out of cardboard. Looks good though, so you got through the difficult part. Those cutting boards are HDPE, but a different formula than the sheets...and yes, they are really dense and hard. A metal cutting blade is normally used (use to work for a company that made them).
