Bank fishing - 7' or 7'6 rod length?
Both rods have the same ratings for lures. Given that you have some trees and such to deal with I'd suggest going with the shorter rod - the 844. Though I'd be careful with those 3/4 oz jigs/punch rigs as once you add in the weight of the hook, skirt and trailer - you'll probably be over the 1oz upper rating of the rod...so cast carefully and don't try to bomb it out there.

(aboard the ISS) Hopkins (looking out a porthole): Sergey, was anyone planning a nonstandard launch? Ryzhikov (at the comm station): Not that I was aware of, Michael. Why? Hopkins: Well...there's what looks like a canoe passing by at about 100 meters. Ryzhikov (moves to another porthole and looks out): Perhaps the Chinese are testing something.- Fishmas 2020
No comment...- Fishmas 2020
Ya - first of my two should also arrive Monday - second due to be shipped Tuesday Deak already started it- Sellus casting rods...
Two of the rods I upgraded this year were a 6'6" M/F casting and a 6'6" M/F spinning - both Airds. They worked fine for jerks, wackys, shakeys. I just went to FR703C and FR703SF for both this year.- Jet Engine on a canoe
Wonder how much to upgrade my canoe for that?- Sellus casting rods...
Despite upgrading 4 rods this year - my H/F Aird-X will remain my flip/pitch/frog rod for next year. It's done well the past 2 seasons, so it wasn't at the top of the queue.- Post a photo a day!
And all the snow we got earlier has melted away - with not so much as a flurry in the forecast for the next week.- For my FIL: Locations
Oh well - thanks anyway. He's 76 years old, just getting back into fishing after decades of not. Has 2 rigs and a 4-drawer 3700 hard-box. Usually hits the piers in and about Crystal River and has rented a pontoon a couple times on the Harris Chain but wants something he can trudge around the shore with a Weekender bag that's a bit closer to home - which is on the SW side of Ocala.- You guys like the old stuff?
I was thinking the same about my 70s era reels - both of which are still in excellent working order despite being a little dinged up. I agree.- We haven't done this for a while
(another Army of Darkness fan here)- Help. What is that one day “anywhere in California “ bass tournament?
I looked at the KBF tournaments...but they have restrictions that I don't meet. Main one being you have to use one of the specified bump-boards...that cost $50 or more. My $19 bump-board works just fine, thank you.- grease in bearings with vacuum cleaner
What about those of us who are 50/50 split between? Are we in limbo? Does our voice count twice?- grease in bearings with vacuum cleaner
First line of his quoted text. So ya - this is for spinning reels.- The latest sale thread
My Fury 704C sat in the USPS distribution center in Evansville, IN for a week before finally moving along...COVID is affecting everything.- Why have they still not fixed the glitch of the “like” buttons being blacked out?
No issues with the like button here - either on the desktop or my tablet. I agree that the cleaner interface is nicer on the tablet than it was.- For my FIL: Locations
Shore fishing opportunities on medium power equipment and 1-2 3700-size boxes of tackle?- We haven't done this for a while
I preferred the Montgomery Wards catalogue.- For my FIL: Locations
My father-in-law is getting into more fishing, mostly pier, but he'd like to catch some bass. He lives in Ocala, FL. Anyone got some good lakes in that area for bass?- Fishmas 2020
Well - half my gifting shipped today - the other half is due to ship next Wednesday...so it should be a surprise until that second shipment reaches them.- Insurance
I actually did get insurance for my canoe - which covers the canoe itself plus any liability. If the canoe dumps or is destroyed on the water - all equipment in it is covered under a rider. If things are stolen from home or at the launch - my home-owner's insurance covers that. I take pics of everything and update regularly - bundled with my home and auto insurance it's only $30 a year more...and I've been with this company for 35 years so get a loyalty discount - and between a home claim (hail damage to roof and aluminum siding) and 2 car claims (both charged to the other driver), I've recovered about half the premiums I've paid over the years. Is it worth it? Yes - paying for those things out-of-pocket would have destroyed my financial status...rather pay more over time than pay for the repair/replace costs all at once.- Fishmas 2020
I don't think we have any of those here - unless it's a farm-pond.- We haven't done this for a while
All the young kids here - that's the year I bought my house after 2 years of college and 4 year in the USAF. Ya, I still occasionally use the handle I created back in 77 for the old MECC/MERITS system we had running here in MN back then. High-Schools and Colleges across the state were connected via 1200-baud dial-up to a mainframe in Minneapolis.- Fishmas 2020
Ya - Unfortunately I'd have to go through tons of paperwork here in MN to do the same thing. Dropping X-Mas trees - or anything else - into waters without a permit is illegal here. - Jet Engine on a canoe
