  1. This is going to be my primary jerkbait rod - heaviest I currently own is 9/16. Secondary techniques will be weightless worms and flukes.
  2. Beats me - I've had pike on spinnerbaits, jigs and lipless cranks just in the last two years. Those toothy buggers will chase anything.
  3. This is registrations recorded by the USCG - so it's what the Coast Guard considers as 'recreational boats'. Since my canoe is registered, it would be in that number.
  4. https://www.mudhole.com/Components-Rod-Building/rod-guides-components/tip-tops-fishing-rod-guides .079" is 2mm - so that's the tube size you need.
  5. Easily - my 1/2oz SK Tour Grade Footballs actually weigh around .62 with the skirt and hook added. My trailer of choice is a 4" Pit Boss and they weigh around .34 - that totals to .96oz...so just shy of 1.
  6. Comparisson Florida - Population: 21.4 million - Number of registered recreational boats: 935k - 1 boat per 20 people Minnesota - Population: 5.6 million - Number of boats: 813k - 1 boat per 7 people. Data from https://www.infoplease.com/us/states/state-population-by-rank https://www.uscgboating.org/library/accident-statistics/Recreational-Boating-Statistics-2019.pdf
  7. Ya - Dobyns for example is 1 rank lower than what they 'name' it. For them, you want a 5-power 'Mag Heavy' or 'Medium/Heavy Flip'.
  8. If you're flipping into heavy cover...that's what I'm using - a Heavy with 50# braid...even with 3/8 oz jigs. The rod power and line are to fight the 'cabbage'...not the fish.
  9. I've got it on my $500 canoe - more for the liability and 'un-insured wacko' than anything else...and the gear-loss rider.
  10. Even Hobby Lobby carries balsa. Since it's all imported and they're still harvesting faster than they can grow it, the price has been going up and up for a number of years now. Don't expect 'pine' prices - think more like exotic woods such as 'purpleheart' or 'zebrawood' (yes, those are real woods).
  11. Formed last year, they finally have things set up for 2021 - and they're hitting the upper midwest too. https://anglerschannel.com/npfl-announces-inaugural-schedule-for-2021/?fbclid=IwAR1agP9qaQNgaSj6B7f00AwRWH8lRJTjrpoKcUv5HBA5ptZMZi5UCISdK0Q
  12. And the idiots are out on Minnetonka already - just 2 weeks ago we had open water and it really hasn't been all that cold. I just hope this guy makes it back to shore before he falls through. Taken this morning.
  13. That would include Abu Berkley Fenwick Penn Shakespeare Ugly Stick
  14. I've got two packages heading to my designated recipient - one is held up...maybe a day or two. The other just shipped today...so maybe next week.
  15. Well - considering my best of this past year was on a swim jig with a Pit Boss trailer...it's turning into a confidence bait.
  16. I'll be giving it test runs on 'Tonka....once the season opens on May 8th. Though I could probably skip it a good distance right now given that we have 'hard water'.
  17. I think it'd look better with one of these on it. Pit Boss in 'Green Haze' - yes, I have a bag of them.
  18. One can always dream...
  19. Mine's a walkable pitch - but I've got a roof-rake. Wife won't let me on the roof anymore.
  20. The standard Diawa Ardito-TR rods break into 3 sections. For more flexibility - the Ardito SC is a hybrid casting/spinning rod that breaks into 5+1 sections. Two different handles - one for casting, one for spinning, and 4 main sections. It's a Medium-Heavy/Fast.
  21. My heart bleeds. Not really as our high today was 18.
  22. T-Rig is my bane... Buzzbait - mainly because I haven't fished them much
  23. Looks like I'm first up - this was sent to me by @Bluebasser86 (yes, I know it was you) Nice little selection of lures and plastics. Thank you, sir
  24. Meanwhile - in Minnesota
