  1. 8" White Perch circa summer 1966 - Bank fishing, Indian Lake, Worcester MA Cheap combo I bought from the back of a comic book Worm/bobber. I remember this because it was the first fish I ever caught First bass 1# Largemouth circa summer 1968 - Bank fishing, Indian Lake, Worcester MA Mitchell 320 on a ( I think) 6'6" Diawa 1312 ML/F rod - the Mitchell is long gone, but I still have the 1312...and it's in usable condition. Mepps Comet - #2 Shad (still have this too and it's in my panfish box and gets used) Your first bass always sticks with you.
  2. Standing rib roast, twice baked potatoes, steamed-fresh broccoli. Mini pecan pie for the wife, dutch apple pie for me. Home-made mead.
  3. I think our SW will stay open - 16 miles between them Cabelas - North-West part of metro - Rogers SW - North-East part of metro - Coon Rapids
  4. Just wait - it'll be Halloween '91 all over again.
  5. "In an effort to better serve its loyal customers, Sportsman's Warehouse has entered into a definitive agreement to join the Great American Outdoors Group, parent company of Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, White River Marine Group and a collection of nature-based resorts." https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/12/21/2149037/0/en/Sportsman-s-Warehouse-to-join-The-Great-American-Outdoors-Group-to-better-serve-outdoorsmen-and-women.html
  6. Looks like we're going to have a White Christmas after all. Rain tomorrow morning, changing to snow...possible 3"-6" when all is said and done. Gotta call that high-schooler and make sure he can come over and dig me out either tomorrow eve or Thursday.
  7. So I can hit the one by Hobby Lobby and if they're out - the Haskell's by the Wendy's. (Ridgedale area)
  8. Sliding through a thin ring is much easier than sliding through the length of a bullet weight. I use dipsy sinkers for this.
  9. I would have varied that order more. 2-4 colors are sufficient. It's the sizes, diving-depths, and whether they're floating, sinking, or suspending where the variance helps more.
  10. Depending on the size of the reel, it should handle it. I used 10# YZH (same diameter as 10# Big Game) on a Pflueger 35 (3000 size) and long as I was consistent with the KVD I didn't have any issues.
  11. 75% of my jerkbaits are Rapala with a few LC Flash Minnows, Berkley Cutters and Smithwick Rogues tossed in for a little variety.
  12. We have a number of different liquor stores here - but I've only found it at one of the higher-end ones. MGM doesn't carry it, the city store doesn't carry it...only place I found it was Haskells which only has 11 locations in the Twin Cities metro area.
  13. Dunno what the current price is. I don't drink all that much...my current bottle is 4 years old. I think it's smoother. 25 years of Jameson for me before finding Dew. Same with my ale - 20 years of Guinness before finding Murphy's
  14. Dude - what's really in danger is my wallet. This fall/winter has been a buying spree. 5 new reels 5 new rods Tons of tackle Went from 2 bags (1-3600, 1-3700) to 2 of each size. The bait monkey has been mugging me every time I turn around.
  15. Blog the wife follows, the guy who runs it got a shot through his telescope
  16. That's a dedicated terminal box - the 'holes' hold bullet weights, the compartments hold hooks and such.
  17. We've got a couple places here that rent ice-shacks by the day or week. Already placed...you just haul yourself and your tackle to it.
  18. Father-in-law actually - and he's been busy with other things lately. Plans to give it a go sometime after the 1st.
  19. Ya - but you can skip a jig for a mile!
  20. You're suppose to look up...not down her...errr...
  21. I'd go with the 703SF as well...regular guides, not the micro. The 704 would be more useful for T-Rigs, jigs, spinners and chatters.
  22. You and me both, bro. New reel New rod New bag Assortment of plastics Two more 3607-10 boxes Couple spools line I've got a bit left of the Yule Check from dad...but I need to save enough to re-register the canoe (3 year sticker expires end of the month) and a license with trout stamp in the spring (go on sale March 1)
  23. Besides shooting them with a bow? Ya...on occasion So do catfish and sturgeon - but the Carp I've caught have either gone into the trash or as fertilizer in my garden.
  24. Given that 30# braid is about the same diameter as 10# mono, that's about the lowest I'd go. I did give 20# Power Pro a try on my President a couple years ago and had the same issues of digging. Personally - I wouldn't go below 40# braid (12# mono diameter) on a BC...but that's just me.
