Arid x vs sellus
I've got 4 different Aird-X models. 7' H/F, 7' MH/F, 6'6 M/F in casting and 6'6 M/F in spinning. The two 6'6 models are moving to shore fishing while I'll still be using the two 7' models in the canoe this coming season. I've handled Dobyns Colts - which are $25 more - and I still prefer the Aird-X over the Colt.

Buying ultralight gear?
My personal preference in that price-range is Diawa Aird-X. I have a Medium spinning rod that is head-and-shoulders better than my old Ugly. While I've replaced the Aird-X with a Fury for the canoe, I'm keeping the Aird-X for shore fishing. Others have suggested Berkley Shock, Lews Laser SG-1, Shimano Sellus

Buying ultralight gear?
Having had Ugly Sticks in Ultra-light and Medium - I hope you can change your wish in time. There's MUCH better rods in that same price range than a Ugly. Only thing Ugly Sticks have going for them, IMO, is that they are near unbreakable.

Fishing with a pro.
I'd have to go with my 'local boy'...Seth Feider. We'd probably 'kill' Minnetonka.

Garmin 7cv VS 7sv
I've seen some places advertise the Striker as 'Striker Plus 73sv'...so you gotta pay attention there too. I know Garmin says '7sv'...but others are trying to trick you into the cheaper unit. I made an error - I have a Striker Plus 7cv...not a 63cv.

Is this a good deal?
I don't even bother with the auction site when I can get from a retailer for much less. Early this fall, Legacy had a used Patriarch 7.9:1 for sale for $70 - that's a $200 reel. I snagged it, and couldn't find anything wrong with it at all. No warranty, but at that price...who cares.

Garmin 7cv VS 7sv
You can't tell by the model number anymore - you have to go by the name to designate whether it has maps or not. Garmin is getting tricksie that way.

Garmin 7cv VS 7sv
Dean - Striker and Echomap both have CV and SV units...that's what I'm saying. Striker 73SV doesn't have the maps built in, the Echomap 73SV does.

All I had to go on, good Sir, was your 'joined date' - which shows as 2004.

Drop shot hooks
Smaller baits, like Z-Man HogZ, Z-Man Slim SwimZ or Zoom Fluke-Tail Goby are nose hooked on a #1 Owner SSW. Larger 'bulk' baits like a 3" Berkley Pit Boss go on a 1/0 or 2/0 Owner SSW, again nose-hooked. Worms like a Zoom Trick Worm I T-Rig on a 2/0 or 3/0 Worm hook. The size of the bait determines what hook and how to rig it. I also use the SSW as my Wacky hooks.

Garmin 7cv VS 7sv
It's part of the Active Captain app. You download that to your phone or tablet, access the community and can download charts others have made using Quickdraw on their units. The Striker 6x, 7x and 9x units have Wi-Fi...so connect your phone or tablet to the Garmin and upload the Quickdraw maps to it. The manual has the 'how to' of how to do all this.

Garmin 7cv VS 7sv
Actually, the only thing the SV adds is Side-View. The CV and SV models both have maps on the Echomap, neither has maps built in on the Striker. The community maps are available for both models of Striker...I've downloaded the community maps to my Striker 63CV already.

Be here a LONG time. Glenn founded this more than 15 years ago and some still-active members have been here a dozen years or more.

Who do you eat ?
What ever I catch pretty much...except Northern Pike - hate dealing with the 'Y' bones. Perch, Crappie and Sunnies - decent size ones go home Largemouth - 2#-3# have a 50/50 chance of ending up in my freezer. Smaller and you don't get enough, larger and the taste starts getting 'off'. Walleye - 2#-4#...same as Largemouth Trout - local lake has stocked Rainbows and I fish it every now and then. 1.5#+ go home with me.

Garmin livescope
"Blue and Brown1 (Optional) - The Blue wire is the Tx (Transmit), and brown is the Rx (Receive) wire. These wires are used only for Garmin Data Sharing between the Striker and the ECHOMAP2 series devices. If these wires are left disconnected, Garmin suggests clipping the stripped tinned ends back to the insulation." https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=xXS5gKb6rsA6hKT97PfrJ6

Budget frogging setup 2021 season
On my frogging rig - which is an Aird-X H/F with a Fuego CT - I run 50# Power Pro original in lo-vis green. I like the 4-carrier braid for that because it seems to cut through lily-pad stems better than an 8-carrier like Sufix 832.

DIY solo bass boat
Ditto above - a 10' V-hull is not conducive to having a deck. A decent TM with a couple batteries, or a small outboard would be more than enough for this. Do the minimum you need to to get on the water and save up for something larger - like a 1448 or larger Jon which can be turned into a very nice Bass boat.

Zoom trick-worm: check - have four colors to choose from. Another technique to add to the list. And maybe a T-Rig catch...finally. Thanks.
