  1. I'd put the Monarch as a step below the Trion - but for a budget angler, it's a good starting point. Monarch combo in 7'0" MH/F is available at Dick's for $70. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/pflueger-monarch-low-profile-combo/16pflupflmnrchlp7com
  2. We're kidnapping people on the sly.
  3. Welcome to the Great White North! I don't get out much - and when I do it's always on Minnetonka (other end of the 'world' from you) in the canoe for short trips only or shore-fishing for even shorter trips.
  4. Having a canoe, I find spots that look good and drop anchor. Even a slight breeze will blow me around, so if I'm gonna stay on a spot, I need the anchor.
  5. Short rods give you accuracy Long rods give you distance Have to find the right balance for your style of fishing.
  6. I dunno the cost - Mike at DVT might be your best bet to ask. I do know it'll involve replacing the handle and guides - spinning guides really aren't workable for a casting rod.
  7. Couple budget rods - 7'0" Aird-X MH/F as my main and a 7'0" Laguna MH/F as my secondary.
  8. HEY! I resemble that!
  9. I'd go ML as well - I have a UL rig...rarely use it and that only for Neds. The ML is much more versatile. Saying that - either a Diawa Tatula 711MLFS or a Dobyns Sierra 702SF
  10. ^8 For a good guitar - sometimes nothing beats an acoustic Mason Williams with a harp accompaniment.
  11. Given what I see happen - wonder if a graduate student could do their thesis on that...
  12. Depends on the size of the Husky Jerk - go to Rapala's site, details on the lures give the hook sizes https://www.rapala.com/rapala/lures-by-type/
  13. Probably a Ratlin' Rap 05 - which uses size 6 hooks. Rapalas come with VMC hooks standard (VMC is owned by Rapala)
  14. Sure looks like mine - though the scale pattern is a bit finer than I usually see on them. The KVD's should be fine - though any hooks I have to replace I do so with Owner ST-36.
  15. Craziest thing we did - took a lower-stage engine, put it in a 'Scout', packed the body with black powder....when the engine shot that bit of 'glowing' propellant up to ignite the next stage....BOOM. Half a dozen, 15 year old, unsupervised boys....what do you THINK we were going to try?
  16. Well, I use KVD which reduces the memory issue even further. Only line I don't use it on is braid.
  17. I've gone from XL, which use to be my go-to, to Sufix Elite - same price, but I think the Elite is limper and casts better.
  18. Ya, a 90 is only 1/2oz - even my Medium spinner will handle that weight (1/4-3/4). Far as a 110, a decent heavy will handle that - like a Sierra 705SF.
  19. Just what I need - another hobby. Besides, they have the 'cool' looking rockets anymore? I had three of the four on this 'page' - not the Invader.
  20. That's still around? I did Estes rockets when I was a teen back in the 70's...had a whole fleet.
  21. Like all Solunar tables, it's based on the positions of Sol and Luna as relates to Earth and each other - so it's universal. Same info for Jersey, Cali, Japan, etc.
  22. Upload it to Youtube - then past the link here.
  23. ...and by the time they ramp up production, everyone who wants that color will already have it...and there will be a glut.
  24. Only time I use something in addition to the mainline on light mono is when I rig up a spinshot hook for drop-shotting. 8# mainline, spinshot hook, 6# line from hook to weight. Welcome to the 'Colonies' - my sister-in-law lived in Kensington-Chelsea until her death from cancer some years back.
  25. well, 3.5" diameter on a 96" tube is 107" (106.995") total - so under their 108" limit.
