  1. #1 - PVC pipe, large enough diameter to fit the rod with bubble wrap around the handle and tip at minimum...mid-section as an added bonus. Get one with threads - or have the hardware store thread it - and screw caps on the ends #2 - Heavy wall cardboard tube - like rods from decent shippers come to you in. Same diameter stats as for the PVC. Going cheap on shipping rods more often than not results in a broken rod. Also make sure to insure it for the full replacement value.
  2. I run a 6.3:1 Fuego on my FR-705CB for all my cranks. So far it's worked great for both bass and pike.
  3. You're not the only one to have that 'problem'.
  4. Only in your dreams, Paul.
  5. Could - but mainly it's casting a LONG distance...like a 'long bomb' in football.
  6. I do things like that to the wife frequently - she has one of two reactions 1) Laughs until she can't breathe 2) Stares at me as if to say 'You did NOT just go there!' - I just grin back.
  7. Dude, that clashes with the whole idea...
  8. I look at it this way - if it performs at least 60% as well as a Yama-Senko, then I'll get it as it's only 60% the cost each. Budgetary constraints.
  9. Couple of the links I found were auction sites - asking prices ranged from $12.50 to $30.00.
  10. It could be one of two older reels - a Summit or a Supreme...a Google search found several references to a Summit PSM-IH but only one reference to a Supreme PSM-IH. Given the 4 bearings, I'm leaning towards the Summit. Finding schematics for it? Might want to e-mail Pflueger direct.
  11. I think Blue is talking about people who don't know how to use a BC Myself - the 60 will be great for either canoe trips when I have my BCs, or shore fishing when I take my MH spinning rig...I'm already tossing 90s with that setup.
  12. @A-Jay - you're up...
  13. I'd LOVE to night fish - but the home situation precludes it.
  14. Join the club - so far this year, I've had one decent northern and two decent bass...rest have been dinks/hammer-handles. I'm also trying again Wednesday - reports have them moving shallow, so maybe my shore-fishing expedition will be fruitful for a change.
  15. I dunno about that - but you want a great price...wait for TW's Good Friday sale - I got my 705CB for $95.
  16. I have two Fury rods - a 705CB and a 702SF The CB is my crankbait rod, backs up as a jig rod, but I got two others for jigs and bladed jigs so I rarely tie a jig on the CB. Good casting range, sensitive enough to feel vibrations from the cranks...I've liked it so far The SF is my main finesse rod - drop-shot, weightless wacky, Ned, single flukes - another rod that I've enjoyed using. I've got a couple Furys on my wishlist - maybe pick one of them up this winter.
  17. Some two-part epoxies come in a unit that mixes them as you inject them.
  18. I'm with Mike - I've got a President and President XT and I have no issues casting distance with them. Just takes practice and 'dialing' in the tension and brakes properly.
  19. #1 Owner Wacky hook - 5" Stik-O, Senko or Zlinky
  20. Just go - any day you can wet a line is better than doing something else. And I've caught decent fish on days that those apps said were 'poor' - I don't even look at them anymore.
  21. Medium-Heavy for an S-Waiver 168? Only if you want to chance breaking your rod. All the rods you've listed are rated to 1 oz max and the S-Waiver 168 is 1&5/8oz. You'd need to go to a heavier rod like the Fury 795SB (swimbait rod) to handle those big lures.
  22. I use to use XL and Stren original. Now-days for mono, I'm using Sufix Elite. I'm liking it better than either of the others and it's the same price as XL or XT.
  23. Not that it's real expensive to get started. Right now, Sheels is heavily discounting Mitchell RZT combos - $40 gets you a 2000 size reel on a 6'6" M/F rod. Add some line, hooks, bullet weights and Yum Dingers in a couple colors and you can still be under $60. I have an RZ combo in ML, and it's my shore-fishing/backup finesse rig. It's actually a good reel for being a budget one, and the RZT is just an RZ with more bearings.
  24. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/River2Sea_Whopper_Plopper_Silent/descpage-R2SWPS.html Not all colors have a 60 - yet. I've already added some to my wishlist.
