  1. E-Bay or Mike's Reel Repair. I'm pretty sure those JM reels are re-branded 'others'...just have to find out what they started out life as.
  2. I think it's a New England thing...can't tell you how long after moving from RI to MN (1974) it took me to lose that - and even almost 50 years later, some words still 'lose the R'.
  3. Good luck with the surgery, Mike.
  4. Most of our nights the next week will dip below freezing, but daytime highs hovering around 40 most of the week, climbing to 57 for Sunday...at least that's what they're saying now.
  5. Yep - that's another one.
  6. Diverse taste? Got it. This is just a small sample of the groups I listen to. Blue Oyster Cult Moody Blues The Cure Depeche Mode Within Temptation (Dutch - symphonic/metal) Altan (Irish - traditional) Capercaille (Scottish - modern & traditional)
  7. Whatever I can get at a lower price - I'm not picky.
  8. Minnesota allows up to 3 hooks on one line...but the total, combined distance between hooks cannot exceed 9". So I could rig a 3-bait A-Rig with 3" runs from the core...kind of useless really.
  9. I do a loop too, but hook it around the handle. This works for BCs and Spinners.
  10. My Medium-Heavy casting rig - 3/8 and up cranks - I put the 12# on My Medium spinning rig - under 3/8 - I put the 10# on. KVD L&L really makes a difference
  11. 10#-12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid - that's what I use on my crank-rigs.
  12. The UL rig I use for that as well as Ned-Rig and light (<3/16) Drop/Split-Shot is a President-25 on a Diawa Spinmatic UL/F rod with 4# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Reel, Rod and Line can all be had for just under $100 total.
  13. My main drop-shot rig is set up with 8# Suffix Elite Mono in Hi-Vis Yellow. One-eyed wonder here and I need the help to see the line move. Knowing it might be 'seen', I'm going to go against 40+ years and use a leader of 6# Elite Lo-Vis green. First time using a leader...ever.
  14. I guess you missed this part So, whether JB would work or not is a moot point - he doesn't have the needed part to mate back up.
  15. JB Weld, Super Glue, Gorilla Glue...any of those might make it look fixed, but I wouldn't trust it on a rod. Fix it that way if you want to keep it on a shelf for sentimental value, but if you want to use it - new frame or just replace it.
  16. Maybe watch the extra deserts though.
  17. The foot on a spinning reel is an integral part of the frame - so you'd need to replace the whole frame. A quick search and I can't find anywhere that sells just the frame. Might want to toss an E-Mail to Shimano and see what they have available.
  18. Then of course you can end up in my situation. Right eye dominate for most of my life - then lost it to cancer 5 years ago. I've had to re-train myself to use my left eye.
  19. For me, UL means small reel, UL rated rod and light line. My UL rig is a President-25 on a Diawa Spinmatic UL/F loaded with 4# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. This is my main Ned rig, as well as other finesse jigs - under 1/4oz with small trailers...Keitech Leeches, TRD Hogz, etc. I'll also toss Mepps Aglias and Comets in #3-#5 size. Nothing more fun than catching a 2-3# bass on UL.
  20. Considering I already have a President in my arsenal that I used extensively last season...it's not 'worth a try' for me, but 'worth the price'.
  21. A small 12v battery - 9+ AH rating - will power that Helix for a full-day's fishing. They're small, fairly light, and relatively inexpensive. This 10ah unit goes for under $30. https://www.amazon.com/12v-10Ah-SLA-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B004WENYYE
  22. We still got lots of 'hard water' - pickups and SUVs are still driving on it. Bass season closed last Sunday, doesn't open again until May 9. Average ice-out on my lake is April 14...so between then and season opener, I'll be panfishing. Right now, I'm still doing mods to my canoe and yearly maintenance on my reels.
  23. Once open water hits and until bass opener, I'll be targeting crappies here as well. More to test the new mods to the canoe, but catching any fish is better than not getting out at all.
  24. Not fancy? (Snort) My best rig is a Fuego CT-H on a 7' Dobyns Fury 705CB You blow the doors off of me.
  25. THIS is what I'm talkin' bout.
