  1. Look up a bit - I post the IPTs for a 7-speed BC and a 5-speed spinner...both of which are in my arsenal.
  2. I'd say 8/10...not butter smooth but they don't hang up.
  3. Okay - second choice...and my new main bag. BPS Extreme Qualifier 370. 5x3700 boxes in the main compartment, 1x3600 box in the front pocket. 4. No help here - the monkey has me firmly in it's grip...it's only the grip the wife has on our finances that prevents me from buying.
  5. I dunno about FC as I don't use it - but I'll be going into my second year with the braid on my Fuego and the YZH on my UL-rig. My reels sit idle from mid-September to mid-April (or later depending on ice-out). I would recommend treating the FC with KVD Line and Lure Conditioner. Initial when you spool up, then a quick spritz the evening before you're heading out to fish.
  6. One I was looking at until I realized it wouldn't fit under the 'work table' in the canoe was the Cabelas Advanced Angler - Magnum size. I have the Large (6x3600 boxes inside, 1x3600 in the front pocket) and it seems to be well built. This is now my plastics bag. The Magnum holds 8x3700 boxes in the main compartment and the four outside pockets will each hold a 3600 box. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Advanced-Angler-II-Bags/2913990.uts
  7. Ratio on spinning reels is always slower than on BCs. The main thing you want is Inches Per Turn (IPT) - how much line is retrieved by each turn of the handle. Spinners are faster for the same gear-ratio than BCs mainly because of the larger diameter spools. Example from my rigs BC: Pflueger Supreme 7.1:1 - 29IPT Spin: Pflueger Trion-35 5.2:1 - 28.5IPT Almost two full turns less on the spinner, but only .5" difference in line retrieval.
  8. My frogging rod is the same one I use for flipping/pitching - 7'0" H/F. Like @Birdsaid - if you're tossing in the cabbage, a high-speed reel is almost a must.
  9. Could have sworn that was Gene Kelly...
  10. Guy across the street has had his ATV on the ice here...one of the fishermen told him that it was 16" on Spring Park Bay. I'm still not going out there.
  11. Nice to hear the success stories. Almost 5 years now since my right eye was removed due to a melanoma - last 4 checks show no new cancer anywhere.
  12. I try to stay away from DSG, but if I need something now - a 20 minute drive is better than a 50 minute drive to get to the closest Cabelas. Closest F&S is 350 miles from me. I've noticed the local DSG is slimming down the fishing and hunting sections a bit...but nothing like what I'm hearing here.
  13. Two standard sizes are .5mm and 1mm - I have seen .8mm for sale, but the first two cover 99%+ of all your drag-washer needs. Check the specs on the reel itself to see which thickness you need.
  14. It was a nice change. Yesterday woke up to 1-below, this morning it was 30-above...34 now and still climbing.
  15. It's funny that I thought you were older than me, and it turns out you're almost a year younger. I made it, you can too...
  16. I'm still waiting on two items from my Black Friday TW order...one says "It's in", the other says the 24th of this month.
  17. Missed that earlier. Mike has it right...my old Pflueger 640 (retired) doesn't even give one handle spin, but it's still smooth. I could put it on a rod and fish it now (well, when the ice disappears). Long as the reel performs smoothly, that's all that matters.
  18. I know there's another thread where some of us check and service brand-new reels before taking them on the water. My President BC and my Trion-30 got that treatment last year. My Supreme and Trion-35 are getting it this year. One comment I made was that it seems Pflueger puts some 'gunky' lube in...either that or it's been sitting so long on a shelf that it gummed up.
  19. Since I live on an island in Minnetonka - any direction I go hits water. Far as to the two launch points on the lake I use...5 minutes to one, 10 minutes to the other. I'm in the red circle on this map
  20. "Dad, can we add sssssome sssssysssstem code to thisssss?"
  21. My HUK and Columbia shirts get treated this way. Detergent Softener Dry on medium-high
  22. Good place to start - of course a lot depends on where you're located at. What works for me in MN (once the ice is gone) may not work the same for you. https://www.bassresource.com/seasonal-fishing-articles/
