Hoping I can get back on the water in full force come spring
Hoping that things work out and you can get back to enjoying this 'all-consuming' passion of ours.

Are pretty lures just to catch fisherman?
I prioritize this over color - but 90% of the crank/jerk baits I have are 'natural'...ones that approximate the forage available in the waters I fish.

Looking for a new rod for my son.
Ya, after looking at things, I picked the Fury crankbait rod over the Tatula XT. With the TW sale, I got it for that same $95.99...gets delivered today unless UPS screws up.

Looking for a new rod for my son.
For not much more, you can get a Dobyns Fury - they have the 663C and 664C http://dobynsrods.com/rods/fury/

Flipping hook vs. EWG for texas rigs
Worms/lizards/narrow profile I use a regular offset. If it's a bigger-body bait (Berkley Pit Boss/R.I. Sweet Beaver/S.K. Rage Bug/etc) then I'll use an EWG.

Fleet Farm isn't a 'local tackle shop'...it's a regional (upper midwest) "sell everything" store - think of it like a cut down Home Depot and add horse riding equipment (they sell saddles and other tack), hunting and fishing gear...etc-etc-etc.

Even with the 10%, I can get it cheaper on Amazon - or even cheaper at the local Fleet Farm...$39.95 for the 6'6 M/F

(sighs) Looks like Amazon for that one then.

Winter weather ‘19-‘20
We got flurries, then the bottom drops out of the temp for the week. (winces) I'm lucky I didn't have to go through that - best wishes to the Wilf.

I like the fact they opened the 'doors' - now I can plan on when to get the Aird-X to replace the Ugly Stick. Long as the Aird-X is included with the 'selected' Diawa rods on the 20th.

Spinning setup for a growing boy
I still have my old rod (Berkley Enforcer), though the Mitchell is long gone. The grip on it is thicker than the grip on my Aird-X's, and I was able to use it at 8 years old. I think the Aird-X would be fine. Far as I know, any decent rod...even the inexpensive ones...use blank-through now - those that don't are the cheap 'one season' rods that I wouldn't touch.

Spinning setup for a growing boy
I'm an Aird-X fan, so that's my choice there. I've looked over the Diawa spinners, and still prefer Pfluegers. The 20 and 25 size are a bit small for general use, I use a 25 for my UL rig, but my 30 size is my 'all around' spinner. The 6'0" Aird-X doesn't have the lure-tossing capacity nor the line-test range of the 6'6", so I'd go with the longer rod. For comparison: the rig I got for my 8th birthday was a Mitchell 320 on a 6'6" rod - served me well into my 20's for bass, walleye, pike, panfish...you name it. So, 6'6" Aird-X M/F with a President-30 seems to be the ticket, IMO, for that budget.

Poor Rod Packaging
Two rods I ordered off Amazon were shipped by Evike - both came in hard tubes, well packed with bubble-wrap around the tips and handles to support the rod in the center of the tube. I'd check who the origin-shipper was.

Home theater remotes
I go further - hardware disconnected the camera and mic on my netbook, don't have either connected to my desktop.

Shipment 2 - most of my TW order. Still waiting on the rod, and a couple things are back-ordered, but this is the majority of my purchasing this winter.

I'm posting this with a heavy heart
Catt, if you're really going to clean house, need to include the washer, dryer, dishwasher and kitchen sink in there.

I did my order through Cabelas - they even gave me the Veteran's discount on top of the sale price and free shipping.

Swimbait Rods
300 would cover a rod and reel if you went with the Diawa DXSB Swimbait Rod at $110. the H/F model covers 2oz-8oz so puts that 4oz lure just under the mid-mark. For upper end, a Dobyns Champion has a few models that puts that 4oz right about in the middle of their range for about $260.
