  1. Clearer water I'll use Canada Craw - closest match to the majority of crayfish species that live around here. Murkier I'll go to either Black/Blue or Green Pumpkin.
  2. Well, since the main YouTube channel I watch for Bass Fishing information is BR's own...when's @Glenngetting his own line of rods and reels?
  3. My question is - two rods of the same model but one has a Pro's name attached for an extra charge...is there a functional difference between them or are you just paying for a name?
  4. I was kind of joking - but if you're willing...toss me a PM and we can set things up. Thank you so much....
  5. @Glaucus, if you want to get rid of that President 25, I'll take it off your hands...no charge.
  6. I do all my finesse work - Ned, dropshot, etc - with the Avocet rig. 2000 size reel, 6'6" Medium-Light/Fast rod, 8# mono.
  7. This winter is never going to end. I'm running out of places to put shoveled snow.
  8. ^ X2 All my rods are Fast ones.
  9. With some of the additives in modern worms, they'll at least deform the boxes...some will even melt them. Box plastic technology hasn't kept up with worm technology. Add to that, some worms don't play nice with each other..Z-Man TRD and others being a big one. Even if in separate slots, if they're in the same box with say Berkley Power Worms, then they'll 'attack' the others, causing a mess of melted plastic. Even the same 'make and model' worms I keep separate in bags so that the colors don't leech to each other.
  10. Well, one confirmation here that some are made in Asia. My Pflueger President was made in China.
  11. Not to mention all the articles written by a number of people...including some pros. As well as all the videos that Glenn has shot about equipment, tackle, techniques and how-tos. BR is a treasure trove of information.
  12. From a post back in 2014 "Abu's low-profile reels, Lew's reels, Pflueger baitcasters, and the BPS Pro Qualifier and Johnny Morris Signature Series baitcasters are all made by Doyo in Korea. Abu Garcia's round reels from the C3 on up are still made in Sweden."
  13. Some I keep in original packaging - my Keitech leeches for one. Worms and other critters get re-bagged into Ziploc snack size with the cut out label from the original packaging placed in with them. Then those bags get put into Plano 3606 or 3610 boxes - one or two snack bags per slot depending on the bait.
  14. I look at lure prices and scratch my head. Brand A 3/8oz twin spinner - $8 each, brand B - $2 each...I know which one I'm buying. Four of brand-B for the price of one brand-A = no brainer to me. To think that people pay upwards of $100 for ONE lure...when one of my rod/reel combos cost that is insane IMO. <- Frugal by necessity, not desire.
  15. When I was looking to get an inexpensive boating option I looked at three options Kayak Canoe Jon Boat I went with the canoe for several reasons 1) My knees aren't the greatest and sitting low in a kayak for a period of time then trying to stand would have been...interesting. That made the kayak a non-starter for me. 2) With a jon-boat, if the motor died (out of gas/dead battery/etc) rowing like an old rowboat is your backup and I've never been a fan of rowing. 3) With a canoe as a solo angler, I get plenty of storage, paddling if the TM fails is much easier than rowing, with the stabilizers I added this winter I can stand up/move around, and with the seat mod I don't have to sit halfway to the keel - I can sit normally like in a full-size bass boat. A future mod may be a live-well with easy fill/empty capability (I've already laid out a base design on paper). For me and my fishing, a canoe was the best call over anything else given my financial situation.
  16. Turn them into 6'8", 6'9", whatever. The more you can save of the length the closer to original the action will be.
  17. Get thee to Urgent Care and have it checked out - pulled muscle isn't too terrible, but a torn rotater cuff if left untreated can become serious enough to end your fishing days. Better to be safe than sorry.
  18. I do the same thing using my Ryobi...just a little ingenuity.
  19. Ya, even with the discount it's still more expensive than TW's regular price. Of course this is Dick's - big conglomerate that can charge that much because people will pay that much.
  20. My current jerk/light crank rig is the Trion on a 6' Ugly Stick. So no...you're not the only one.
  21. Rust is insidious - it can burrow in through a pinhole and work from the inside out. If it was me - I'd replace any hook that had even a pinpoint of rust on it.
  22. Even just a 'tiny bit' of rust can hide pits that go deeper and weaken the hook. Replace the trebles. Lesson learned - dry all lures before packing them away.
  23. Even at low speed, the shaft of the TM will spin much faster than you'd want a 'drive wheel' to. Forcefully slowing it down by friction and you're looking at a burned-out motor. The riding mower as a tow vehicle seems to be the best idea.
  24. One other thing to remember is that Garcia was a separate company, founded in the US, and was Abu's distributor for a number of years before Abu bought them out in the 50s and renamed the combined company Abu Garcia.
