what should I have done?
I have a pair of forceps for most hook removals and a pair of electronic pliers (long/thin) for the more difficult hooks. They're connected to retractable badge holders which clip into D-rings that hang off my belt. So they're both right at hand at all times...and yes, I did have to drill a hole in the handle of the pliers for the split-ring. (Click links for Amazon pages of items.)

Vegtables
What's a vegetable? I'll occasionally have some broccoli, potatoes or peas with dinner...maybe 2-3 times a week...rare occasions I'll cook up some asparagus....otherwise I'm veggie-free. Fruit on the other hand...I always have cut-up honeydew in the fridge, oranges, bananas and sometimes some plums or kiwi. I probably go through 4-5 servings of fruit a day as that's what I 'snack' on.

what should I have done?
Sometimes you can do everything right...but it still goes all wrong. Don't despair over it...just move on and keep doing your best.

Favorite jerkbait colors for smallmouth?
Ya - he doesn't carry them anymore but Clyde's Cranks had 110 clones in different patterns...including White Crappie.

Favorite jerkbait colors for smallmouth?
Perch and White Crappie are my go-to for jerks. Only the 'special' ones, Andy.

Where And How GoPro Remote Mounting In A Yak....??
Ya - I run 256gb cards in my cheap knock-off cameras. At 3gb/18 minutes at 1080p, I could fit 25hrs on one card. The two mounted cameras plug into the house battery via USB sockets. The 'portable' which is either shoulder mounted or chest mounted plugs into a 10,000 mAh power-pack...enough for 14hrs of recording.

Sunglass lens color
I'm kinda similar - but since I wear tri-focal prescriptions, I have to work with something I can wear over those. Originally it was just flip-ups that cost me $20 for a set of 4 (gray, green, amber, brown) which worked fine for a couple years. Then I got onto these inexpensive over-the-glasses ones. $15 a pair, but definitely affordable, and better than many as they have side-shields as well. Pair of gray for driving, and green and amber for fishing...and they're not bad looking either.

Fishing pressure
There was a reason I took most of my lunches kitty-corner across the street at Bridgemans (think Friendly's for the New England folk).

I'd rather fish WITH one @A-Jay.

Only one rule in bass-fishing, my friend....'Have Fun'. How you dress, what your hair is like - none of that matters.

#15 InvizX vs Sunline, Sniper/Assassin?
More like the bass will grab the lure, then wrap it around the stalks of the pads/grass. Braid will cut through that mess, while trying to pull the fish loose with FC will stretch and possibly break the line. 'Slop' is thick weeds of any type - from dense lily pads to tangled milfoil.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Always a little fun to catch...I remember catching them in the trout stream I frequented when living in Worcester. Second pic I see cut throats...you actually eat them? I tried them once and from then on just tossed them back...not my 'cup of tea'.

But they look COOL! That's something beneficial 😎

Should I use a leader with braid?
I'm with you - I have 50# on my flip/pitch rig and 40# on my frog rig...no braid on any other casting rigs. Heaviest I go on spinning is 20# braid on my MH/F skipping rig. They're not too easy on FC/Hybrid line either...but at least there's a better chance of the lure coming back with those than with braid.

#15 InvizX vs Sunline, Sniper/Assassin?
I'm with A-Jay - more open water, InvizX is great. If I'm tossing those into 'slop'...then it's 40# Sufix 832.

Is it worth paying someone to disassemble and clean your reels or is it relatively simple to learn?
The spinning reel is a Pflueger Supreme, the casting reel is a Tatula 100.
-
Diagnose my Tatula noise, RESOLVED!
Initial thought is dry bearings. Drop of oil on the bearings both ends of the spool...just have to take the brake side-plate off to get at that bearing, and pop the spool out to get at the handle side bearing...no need to disassemble.
-
Thoughts for a versatile spinning rod?
I have the previous gen Mojo Bass 7'1" M/F - I agree, that length/action is very versatile.

Having worked with small mechanical items for years, I have no issues tearing down and doing maintenance on my own reels.

Hi Visibility Braid.....?
If I need to see my line - Sufix 832 in yellow is my go-to. Put a leader on it and you're golden.

Daiwa pinion/maingear noise
Yep - My Pfleuger Patriarchs for one - old, but still silent and smooth. Pflueger shot itself in the foot when they discontinued everything but the Monarch (which is a throw-away reel) and the President XT (which isn't bad...but it's no Supreme or Patriarch).
