  1. I do this for tools and bits in my work van, but never even considered it for hook and other lures...Thats genius, thanks!
  2. Like a mini shakey head, I like it! Those do look good! I can't help but notice the snap connecting the jig head to your line...Is that something that you do often? For efficiency perhaps? I've thought about it in the past but only ever considered it for crank baits and what not? Assuming the size and weights and what not are there, this is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Shame the availability isn't the greatest. It greatly surprises me that a lightweight jig head with a weed guard isn't more common lol. I'll have to give these a look
  3. Not necessarily, most of the cover I throw this worm around is lay down and the edges of grass Definitely a bite getter thats for sure! The owner bullet heads are great as well as the ultra ball heads. How do you like to fish them? Open jig head? Yes sir! The phenom worm is on the list to buy. I've got so many various types and flavors of 4" ring worms its hard to justify buying even more😂 M.T. Phenom worm will have to be the exception though. What kind of weedless ned head do you like? Make it yourself? Thats a beauty of a sight right there!
  4. Thats certainly an interesting idea and something i haven't considered. I may just have to give that one a shot! I actually very recently purchased a few different packs of the rugby jig heads and like them quite a bit so far! thanks for the recommendations fellas. still on the prowl for that jig head with the weed guard that i'm after. I may just end up having to make them myself if I can't find something close thats not crazy expensive per jighead @Bluebasser86@TnRiver46 Don't one of you guys like the dead ringer?? @Catt I know your cajun tail throws every Zoom lure thats made. Do you fish the Dead ringer? @NorthernBasser Any recommendations? I'm calling you out Bass resource, I need your jig head advice!😂
  5. Anyone have any recommendations for a a weedless jig head that can be used to fish 4" dead ringers and the like? I've been Texas rigging them for a few years now but would like to find a jig head to switch it up. I like to throw them on a 7' medium fast spinning setup. Qualities about the jig head might include: Thin to medium wire hook preferably a fiber style weed guard, but a wire is not a deal breaker comes in sizes from 1/16oz-1/4oz paint doesn't matter in the slightest Thanks fellas
  6. Thanks a bunch for the info @TOXIC I'm thinking of putting in at Randolphs on the river and heading down river. Chincoteague creek will certainly see a lure or two as well as the massive pad field to the right on the way to the creek. The Rappahannock is sort of a mystery to me. After I hit the handful of 'good' spots that I know pretty well I feel like I'm almost just randomly casting. Tons of great looking cover to target but a little overwhelming at times. Admittedly I spend a LOT of time in the creeks on the Pamunkey River and rarely fish the main river. Creeks are where i find comfort lol The few creeks that I do fish on the Rapp are either very shallow and seemingly lifeless at times. Do you and your partner mostly fish the main river?
  7. Beautiful! I was headed to the Pamunkey this upcoming weekend but I think you just changed my mind! Do you recall what the water temps were? Those snakes come off of topwater or did the Ned bring in everything!?
  8. Just purchased a pair of those goggles because of you. I too have some chilly morning rides and hope I like them. Thanks!
  9. Kyle S replied to you's topic in Fishing Tackle
Might i ask why Strike king needs to watch it? purely curious.
  10. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas for a good anchor system for a 1648 Jon boat? I've got a low profile anchor wizard for my kayak that works very well and am considering something like that for my Jon boat. The low profile anchor wizard is only rated for 10lb so I think that model is out of the question. Anchor wizard does make a Jon boat model which i'm considering. Anyone have any experience with Jon boat anchoring systems? As far as the weight of the anchor, I assume I'd need at least a 10lb - 15lb anchor...? My total boat weight is probably close to 2,000lbs, give or take a few hundred. I fish a lot of tidal rivers so the current can get fairly swift at times.
  11. Ended up being a pretty good day! Had to adapt as they weren't hitting anything topwater or any type of sub surface moving bait. Caught the best one which came in at 4-1/4lbs on a black and blue 3/8 oz jig with rage craw trailer. Average fish size was 3# plus which was excellent. My favorite part though was when my buddy caught a 1.91 lb, 15-3/8" black crappie......on a 3/8 oz black and blue jig with a speed chunk! I was ecstatic! While the jig landed the biggest fish, a june bug speed worm on a shakeyhead was the real deal and caught the most fish. a day i'll surely never forget. Thanks a bunch again everyone for all of your suggestions!
  12. Bringing the boat and kayak just in case the boat can't launch! Headed there now. I literally have almost everything that has been suggested in this thread lol probably gonna start off with some topwater and if I'm able to put that down, than it will be a jig and spinner bait combo sorta deal
  13. Going to fish a big pond this weekend that apparently has a very healthy population of larger large mouth bass. This body of water is as private as they come and from what I understand, almost no one takes advantage of the great fishing it has to offer. Details about the pond that I've been told are as follows... Relatively shallow throughout the entire pond with the deepest parts maybe hitting 8'-10' Tons of lay downs and stumps cut off right above and below the surface of the water. Healthy population of larger black crappie Water temps should* be somewhere close to 60* or very high 50's* What would you fellas throw at em?
  14. Purely my opinion, but that looks more like a cockpit of a commercial plane than a bass boat. Ridiculous if you ask me. I'd love to see some sort of regulation happen.
  15. Always UPS from Tackle Warehouse. UPS is my preferred shipping company.
  16. Has anyone tried to purchase any Daiwa rods in this current 20% sale?? Discount isn't showing in cart for the rod so I can only assume its excluded. I'm curious if it is their MAP pricing thing that won't allow them to discount certain things and then they take the % off after the sale is complete...?
  17. Thanks a bunch everyone. I'll have to go to my local tackle shop and fondle a few of the recommended inlines y'all have suggested.
  18. I'm looking to purchase a handful of inline spinners to use this upcoming spring for largemouth on my local river. Anyone still use inline spinners? Care to recommend the one(s) you like??
  19. Thanks @NorthernBasser! I just purchased the premium membership so hopefully they send me a similar email. The membership seems to be a decent value
  20. No sir, that I am not. Now I'm curious...if I was a member would the same exclusions apply?
  21. Anyone have a suggestion as to where the best place to buy a few Daiwa rods from at a discount? I'm specifically looking at the Tatula XT, and Procyron Spinning and casting models. I plan to get a few rods in each line. American legacy has 25% off Daiwa with code SECRET, however they only have 1 of the Tatula XT rods that I am after, and none of the Procyron rods. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm also open to purchase any used rods. Is there a 'loophole' or something like MAP pricing for the Omnia 20% off sale? It obviously says "Excludes Daiwa, Shimano, Megabass etc... However I know sometimes they will still do the discount after the sale is made. Anyone have any info or knowledge regarding this? I've never done business with Omnia.
  22. Nice. I liked straight Fluoro quite a bit. Specifically 16lb Sunline Sniper. Really enjoyed the slack line sensitivity that setup offered.
  23. Trying to decide on what type of line I should use for bottom bouncing, harder hook setting techniques. I've tried straight mono, Fluoro and braid. Braid to various flavors of leader material have also been tried. I've liked the sensitivity and hook setting power that braid to leader offers but don't love the extra knot. I've yet to try a copolymer. What's your line setup for jigs and the like?
  24. I tie a palomar knot for just about everything, which often times leaves a considerable tag end. I throw my tag end in the trash can of my boat if i'm fishing from that or under the seat to be disposed of later if I'm in my kayak.
  25. Buzz baits are super effective on my local river systems. They are undoubtedly one of the most efficient and effective lures for fishing the grass that riddles the river banks.
