  1. We catch a good bit of big Warmouths which are a welcomed bycatch. What we call Jack's, is Pickrel, there not to bad of a bycatch, just mangle up lures But my most dreaded, and absolute least favorite catch is... Mudfish. Ugh cant stand them fools. I do release them, but sure do hate em.
  2. Fish and a lure haul, nice...
  3. Farm Pond close to my house, pond was white capping and I decide to fish a weightless wacky rig ? Need a bigger hook, more like a 3/0 wacky. But heat shrink is the trick for senkos. Caught about 12, missed a couple nice ones due to hook. All in all, very pleased!
  4. Assuming your bank fishing? Soft plastics should be key. Junebug U-vibe is a good way to start, T-rig w/ 3/16oz. Weightless T-rig senko 2 baits I would start with, and target shallows bass should be moved up already pre-spawn for sure.
  5. I wish I had more lakes and ponds local, if there was, I'd get in the yak club. But with my 2 local fishing spots being rivers, I'm stuck in the boat club. #NoYakLife
  6. Welcome!
  7. I'm a little different, I dont like frog fishing with a broomstick either. Most if not all of my frog fishing is done using a zoom horny toad. I still do, but rarely do I throw a hollow body frog much anymore. And for that i prefer a 6'6 MH/F Dobyns. I value accuracy over distance and I prefer that fast tip to really impart more action thru cover and feel that it has plenty of backbone to hoss fish out of thick jungle weeds. I also use 30lb power pro with that setup. You mentioned versatility, with that rod I fish weightless t-rig senkos, weightless flukes, and horny toads. It stays rigged with a 4/0 offset VMC worm hook. All year.
  8. @FryDog62 how long before you realized your mepps was running 72mph? ?
  9. It's not much of a weed guard, but yes it had one. That little "pop" made the difference, I'm use to the "hunter shyrock" style hookset (google it lol). I watched videos of hooksets of pros using finesse style baits, and I knew I needed to tone it down a bit. I actually paid attention to my hooksets and really focused on technique. I know for some that's lame, but completely different style of fishing for me so I'm proud. Thanks for all the help everyone. Love this site. #bassresource
  10. It really is, a man can truly learn something new all the time. ??
  11. Rod is a MH/F, so your 10lb Flouro recommendation is spot on ? And the 2/0 wacky hooks is all my local sporting good store had. An upcoming Tackle Warehouse order will help with the right supplies. The pond I went to had insane visibility for what I'm use too, 15ft down and you can see bottom, that's unheard of for my parts. So I knew I was out of my element and needed some clear water gear. So I borrowed about 30yds of 8lb Pline Tactical from buddy at work to use. We did try a variety of lures, actually catching some on buzzbaits, but swimming lures in front of visible bass they showed no interest, but drop that senko and they fired up. I really learned alot today being able to simply watch the bass react. Not sure if I'm envious or not of you clear water guys ?
  12. I would say 85% on the fall. If they didn't hit it on fall, I'd pick rod tip straight up slowly, let it fall again(on slack line). I'd do that 2 or 3 times and recast. Water temp was 62° ish~ they were shallow first thing, then slowly pushed out to deeper ledge. 4ft water to 10ft dropoff on shallow side of pond.
  13. Actually missed alot of fish trying the just pick up rod and reel method. Once I got my drag comfortablely dialed in, a swift upward hookset (kinda popping rod up) holding pressure worked better. Hookset just rigged straight through the worm (perpendicular) was ridiculously better than with zip tie and hook parallel. But zip tie method saved alot of worms. Reflecting on the day, yes it was a MLF dinkfest but fun, I will definitely buy shrink wrap and use the hook (perpendicular) method. I can see that method being the best. I did get my line snapped once, I will bump up to at least 10lb flouro for a leader instead of 8. Solid method to catch lots of bass, shame I haven't tried it sooner.
  14. 50 fish day, all pound an halfers, wacky rig for the win. Went with ziptie method, with hook I posted. Used about 4 GY senkos, and whole pack of Yums. Wacky rig is ridiculously fun. Thanks for all the help and suggestions
  15. Hmmm... LSU is strong. But always enjoy seeing underdog do well. Hoping for a good game, whoever comes out on top
  16. Didnt weigh, Smithwick Devilshorse (modified) April 26, 2019
  17. Alberto was easy, I tried 5 or 6 times to do FG and gave up. I've Texas rigged a senko plenty but never wacky. Dont overwork the bait? Hmm I do have that problem. If it works for so many people seems it's time for me step up my game ? Here's the hooks I have. @PersicoTrotaVA dont set the hook? I'm new to 8lb flouro wacky game
  18. Went Alberto knot instead. So much easier. 2 O-rings crossed over right?
  19. FG knots are a pain to tie... We gotta load up and hit some farm ponds sometime!
  20. @Hook2Jaw- So what you got going on tomorrow lol
  21. @Frog Turds I was going to buy some heat shrink and rig it like that, but dont have time to go to the store today. I have a trip planned to a private pond tomorrow and it's super clear water so looking for all the advantages I can get. All I have is tiny zipties or hook through the worm
  22. I've done plenty of research but cant really find an answer. So confession, I've never caught a bass on a wacky rig. So I'm using my spinning setup 20lb braid to 8lb flouro. I have some 2/0 Trokar wacky hooks, my question is, what has the best hookup ratio, o-ring (ziptie), or through the worm? Each rig turns the hook different ways so I was unsure of best way to rig it.
  23. Owl on Lake Tiger, Kissimmee Chain. Some reason bang-o-lure looked good that day. Dont ask how we got him unhooked.
