winter fish below thermocline
@Glenn - that was a good read, thank you for that breakdown. I'm a river fisherman through and through. I'm constantly in current, and dont have huge balls of shad, herring, etc to follow around. So when I do get an opportunity to fish big lakes, I'm kinda second rate. But, reading material like this and understanding more about bass helps so much. Thanks guys.

Punch Rig Question
Snug as a bug, usually 2-3 bobber stops so it dont slide w 1.5oz or so. I'm not a huge fan of punching mats, not my favorite style of fishing, but if that's what's catching them. Just give it a dangle ??

VMC Bladed Treble Hooks
Definitely the rear, it would stay hung and hit the body on a crank. To me it does similar to what a feathered treble would do. And for what's it's worth I add feathers to some of my cranks to give the bait a little bit bigger profile. Only thing I caution is adding "too much" to a lure that already has plenty of action. Like a sqaurebill beating structure- not really needed. But fishing a drop off with say a DT-10 in open water, then I could see adding it

Time for a power fisherman to buy a spinning combo, HELP!
Since you don't fish with them much or at all, I suggest go to local store and handle some rods and reels and get a feel for what you would be comfortable with. Or take a buddy fishing that has some and use his/her's, it's a completely different world throwing a 1/8 shaky head or Ned setup then KVD powerfishing your local lake. Just saying. Dont invest $300+ into a combo you might try once or twice and never pick up again.

HELP ON LAKE LANIER
Was, at one time, but mainly spotted bass fishery with some Largies still in the mix. I was there for the AOY tourney, favorite vacation place for me and the wife. Never caught a smallmouth, maybe there is one stray left. I would definitely like to see what the fuss is all about. ?

Weedless Bass Jig - In Mouth Position
Simple answer, which is an opinionated one, yes. You are wasting your time cutting off the hook guards. Why not buy jigs without the hook guard? Save the ones with for cover.

Looks good, were you planning on using a foot controlled trolling motor up front? Looking at lid I'm assuming not. Great craftsmanship though! ??
