Shimano Curado DC Reel Question
Sure does work after sitting for long time. There is no stored power. Even when using on the water, there is no stored power. It's self powered for every cast. Power generation occurs at the earliest portion of the cast. Karl

Most versatile rod length?
I might be sticking my neck out here, but when I compare rods (by hand off the water) it looks like action suffers a bit on short lengths - 6'6" range. And this is comparing rods that are identical - except the length. I guess what I'm seeing is simply the larger flexible area with the longer rod. Karl

Seaguar Tatsu and Smack Down
Same here. I like the freedom from one less rigging complication. I believe you also made the (very good) point of stretch not being a very big problem with sensitivity using straight FC. Sure it has a lot more stretch than braid, but how much stretch occurs when dragging a 1/4 oz weighted T-rig along a lake bottom. Very very very little. Now stretch around a hook-up is another story. It's a different discussion. Yes - simply fishing with a spool full of FC is a very good option for more than one reason! Karl

Why don't we use the term Pitching?

Why don't we use the term Pitching?
Seems like I never hear the term Pitching - but Flipping is common. Even when they're obviously Pitching, the commentary is calling it Flipping! Karl

Ever Shiner / slip-bobber fish for Bass?
Saw that coming - money is evil. Still: Some like the easy way, some like a challenge. Karl

Ever Shiner / slip-bobber fish for Bass?
It's not real fishing. I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack with that, but it's the easy way out. I can't see how anyone can take credit for a minnow's work. Was in FL fishing. Getting skunked. Guide wanted to go with wild shiners. Nope. Rather pay what was owed, and get off the water. Better luck next time. Karl

One more try at Fluorocarbon...
I use Seaguar Red Label 12lb. Reviews do mention it's fairly stiff. I only use baitcasters, and don't find it's stiffness a problem. I don't use line conditioner, but it's definitely stiffer than my choices of mono (Stren 14lb and Trilene XL 14lb). I just like the line, and find it strong and reliable. Seaguar Tatsu is known to be more manageable. I should give this line a try myself. Karl

Does anyone here share my dilemma of treble hook lures?
As mentioned in a thread recently - remove (some/most) of them. A lure works quite well with one. I keep the mid-section active. And, I don't have a hook-up problem! Yes, really... Karl

How to take the line on my bait casting reel back through the level winder
I bet a bit of thought went into it - not a bad little piece of fishing satire. I enjoyed it... Karl

Mercury 40 hp 4 cylinder 97 model
More importantly, the compression should be "close" between all the cylinders. Karl Here's a general compression check answer: A compression test reveals the condition of your engine's valves, its valve seats, and piston rings and whether these parts are wearing evenly. Healthy engines should have compression over 100 psi per cylinder, with no more than 10 percent variation between the highest and lowest readings.

No harm, no foul. Karl

curly tail worms and bait caster
Nope. Not even if T-rigged. The bait wiggles, doesn't spin. Karl

Easier to speed up or slow down with a reel?
Thinking more along the line of when a fish is being reeled in (reels have to do that too with any luck), it's easier to slow down than reel like a scalded cat to keep line tension. Karl
