I tried something today that may make some of you cringe
Oh, no no no! You made something WORK! It's too easy to think of things that must be "Industry Standard". It's a pie in the sky hope that often does not hold water. Karl

- Difference between Graphite vs Carbon rod contruction?
Ok, have me paranoid now! But this one is OK. ar·o·mat·ic adjective 1. having a pleasant and distinctive smell. "a massage with aromatic oils 2. CHEMISTRY (of an organic compound) containing a planar unsaturated ring of atoms that is stabilized by an interaction of the bonds forming the ring. Such compounds are typified by benzene and its derivatives.- Difference between Graphite vs Carbon rod contruction?
Yea - just copied from a Google search. Shoulda caught the "Carbon Fiber IS a poly..." Bad wording! Thanks for clarifying. Karl- Difference between Graphite vs Carbon rod contruction?
"Carbon fiber is a polymer which is a form of graphite. Graphite is a form of pure carbon. In graphite the carbon atoms are arranged into big sheets of hexagonal aromatic rings. ... Carbon fiber is a form of graphite in which these sheets are long and thin. You might think of them as ribbons of graphite."- Daiwa Tatula 150
TWS is reliable. The "Tat" must be one of the biggest sellers for Daiwa. I purchased mine when they first came out. Amazing to see how it's been adopted as one of the best for the dollar reels. I use mine as a "travel reel". I wanted a reel that was in the "if something happens while I'm on vacation, on the plane, in hotels, on the boat" where I wouldn't be too bummed out. But it had to be as good as the Zillions and Ryogas that I'm used to using with my local shore fishing. And it does that. Beautifully! Now I have it all tricked out with high end hybrid bearings from Hedgehog Studio, cork knobs, and 153 size Mag Force Z spool. (It started out as an HD 200. Hi cap spool w/o Mag Z. That spool was difficult to control). Now it's worth as much as my Zillions with the upgrades! But, gosh I'm just nuts about it. I just hope it doesn't fall overboard! Karl- Cologne?
Ha! I, just use "Me"! Karl- Daiwa Fuego SV

- Bottom Bass Rigs
I recently purchased them in 6 and 7 inch. The 7 inch Cut R is substantial in size. Always surprised how much difference an inch can make (they grow proportionately - width, tail size). Anyway, I did get to test the 6 inch version on the water just before freeze over. It looks fantastic in the water! Amazing action. Spring can't come soon enough! Karl- Bottom Bass Rigs
Look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls!- Lbs of drag?
Guess I sorta wing it - carefully. I pull the line and feel for the beginning of line stretch. Never had a break-off. Karl- Bottom Bass Rigs
I understand wanting answers to many questions. Afraid I can't help, and most can't either. It's part of making fishing your own. It's all part of the sport; to discover your own answers for these questions. And even the actions YOU find that work will change. Karl- First time in over 10 years....
Thought mono was "CANCELED"! Karl- Bottom Bass Rigs
Yup... Let's let those discoveries happen naturally!! Karl- Bottom Bass Rigs
This is my rig "A". Karl- Bottom Bass Rigs
Feel it's a combination of 2 things. What YOU like and what the BASS like. In any given fishing situation I'd hazard to guess that at least 5 of the rigs that you named would work and catch bass. Now, of those rigs, what do you have on hand to build up AND have confidence in. Throw confidence rig "A". The bass will tell you if they like it. If they like it - you're good - don't change a thing. If the bass don't like it you need to go to confidence rig "B".... Confidence comes with practice. You can't buy it, you build this into yourself. It's the best fishing tool you'll ever own. Karl- Rough feeling reel. NEED HELP/ADVICE
