Big man Looking for first fishing vessel
6’2 245 here. Fished out of a kayak once and hated it. Not for me. Could be for you. I’d suggest trying one out before you buy. I’d also suggest whatever you consider go 1-2 ft bigger. If you fish a lot you’ll get the “I wonder if I...” which usually ends up into stroking a check for a bigger boat, bigger motor, bigger truck etc.. Good luck

Good bass spinning reel for up to 150 dollars
I’d consider these first, and then the brand: size size of the spool drag ive fished the OHero SG3000 for years and probably hundreds of fish. It’s been phenomenal and about $50 Good luck
- How would you break down a new pond?

New here- where can I buy a trokar hat?
Remember that’s how they got Henry in Goodfellas....’a hat?’

I would like to talk about a tournament rule.
^yeah, this. Catch a bunch and don’t cheat. That should take care of it. The way I hear most guys cheat, sounds harder than actually fishing in itself.

Caught my 1st Bass of the year today. New PB to top it off!
Nice 7. You might be surprised how many big ones you’ll get in either really cold or really hot...seems like the big girls kinda do what they want

Most common reason for not catching bass?
Eyes were opened when I first got a graph. That help answer at least the ‘are we alone’ question.

Spinnerbait trailers
A spinnerbait without a trailer to me is like chicken without hot sauce...BBQ with no beer...4 door corvette ...just ain’t right

How to set the drag on a spinning reel?
That’s a big line for a spinning set up with braid. It’ll work, just take some getting use to. After a cast I pull some out of the reel until it’s in the sweet spot..where’s that for you? Idk. I guess you can use the math equations posted but after you land your first 4+ you’ll know where it is. It’s important tho. I’ve lost a couple fish when I used to tighten the drag completely down with 20lb braid. You want some give

Silly MLF rule
What’s the rule if you fail the test? That’s it, you lose??

What's the Black Max of spinning reels?
Penn II or Ohero 3000. Both have been bulletproof

Rick clunn and his agelessness
Very, very good. Example: “the Rams had some guys this year but the Patriots had dudes”

V Hull Stability
Where you fishing the North Atlantic? I fish out of a aluminum 16 Jon that’s decked out in the front. No seats on it tho. If you’ve never fished in a boat it’s the Titanic. If you usually fish in a big boat it’ll be dingy. I think you’ll be fine.

What gear do you guys recommend for flipping and pitching?
Same thought process as why airplane wings should test at 2 to 3 times the strength they would normally fly it. Me and you get mad when we lose fish. The professionals lose money. Why risk it? With that being said you can flip and pitch with anything, some stuff does better

Rick clunn and his agelessness
Clunn is a dude. Period.

Is bed fishing ethical?
We eat the bedding bass and guard the nest ourselves

Do chatterbaits tend to catch big bass?
I’m still convinced wider baits catch bigger fish. I would consider these baits wide

Suggestions on Fish Finder
I use Garmin but whatever you get, don’t skimp. Not a good feeling being out there and going ‘dang I should’ve got the one that had the....’

Wider/fatter vs longer
Placebo effect, is always in effect as well....if you think it works, and it has worked, well...

Wider/fatter vs longer
^^ very good points. Made sense to me at least

Wider/fatter vs longer
Ok, got some good takes here. Old man I used to fish with said animals (not just fish) measure size by density instead of length (height for humans). Didn’t think to much of it until we went to the zoo and it dawned on me how wide REAL animals are. Tigers, buffalos, gorillas etc..May be on to something..

Wider/fatter vs longer
I know confidence/experience is the best lure but something I’ve noticed and have data on is this: Caught more fish on a jig with paddle tail trailer than anything. But when I throw a jig with a craw trailer that’s shorter than the paddle tail, the quality of fish goes up. For a spinnerbait, when I throw double Colorado vs anything else (both the same weight) I catch bigger fish. So my question is, have any of you noticed that fatter more denser baits catch bigger fish then baits of the same weight but longer? interested to see if anyone has experienced the same outcome
