  1. My son and I went out to one of the local lakes in Omaha for a few hours tonight. Caught 3 with this one going 3lbs, 15oz, on the digital. Pulled drag and thought it was bigger but fun. Gotta love :)watermelon/red baby brush hogs marinated in garlic/chartruse Spike It. Go Big Red
  2. Hi All, When we were at Fork this year the guide (Roy Greer) always tied a leader to the braided line. Both reps at Cabela's and Bass Pro stated this was a waste of time. Looking for your expert opinions. If there is already a thread for this please advise. GO BIG RED
  3. Good attitude. I guess thats why they call it fishing and not catching. We had similar weather issues back in March for our 1st trip and still can't wait to come back. GO BIG RED
  4. I found a guy who put up 3 large metal buildings. He charges $2 per foot. He's building a retirement annuity. I'm at his mercy to get it but havent had any trouble yet. Thats the trade off for keeping it inside. GO BIG RED
  5. We're going to Beaver Lake in Ark next week. I'm going to attempt to do a better job of video and pics. I watched yours at Fork and realized I made a mistake not doing any video. You will treasure those. We need to put a BR Nebraska day together. GO BIG RED ROD
  6. LBH, does that make it official that next years trip is to fork? GO BIG RED We're rounding up the posse!
  7. Nice Video, I was disapointed of the lack of red or a big N somewhere! GO BIG RED Rod
  8. First, the dock on the lake I fish the most is marked no fishing, but that is like an open invitation. For the most part the people fishing get out of the way or try to be helpful. But for an inexperienced boater spectators can't be much fun. And that brings me to my second point. If you haven't had a boat dock incident you havn't loaded a boat. GO BIG RED
  9. My speedometer was off by over 10 mph when I checked it with my GPS. GO BIG RED
  10. Guilty as charged. I have no idea except what I've read in here.
  11. Ive had both. Right now I have a Minn Kota Maxxum 80. I really like it but I have had to have the foot pedal mother board replaced 2 months into it. The repair shop assured me I have one of the best motors on the market. Hope so, I hate problems on the water. If you are removing the TM to cover the Motor Guide gator mount is much more user friendly than the Minn Kota system GO BIG RED
  12. Very nice, how exciting for you. Good luck and turn your cap backwards. GO BIG RED
  13. My addiction started 15 years ago with a 9' plastic "pond jumper". Very stable in small water, would have never thought of taking it to a bigger lake. 5 years ago my 11 year old son became interested in fishing and we purchased a used 15 foot aluminum v hull w/ a 25hp johnson and trolling motor. It was very stable up to a point. I paid attention to wind and waves on larger bodies of water. I paid 1400, mostly motor. In the last 3 years I have upgraded 2 more times and a bundle of money more so be careful to not get bit as hard as I have. I still have the 15' er for ponds and you can find them if you look. I was never crazy about the rocking of a jon boat. GO BIG RED
  14. Like mentioned above I have 2 of the pre-sale rods that I really like. I bought them on this sites flea market with a comparable price to the $79 Cabela's IMX6. No comparison the All Stars are much better. I just had a custom rod built (Hendrix Rod's) and again no comparison. I paid more and got more. GO BIG RED
  15. RWHusker. replied to Catt's topic in Fishing Reports
Congrats Catt, Can't wait for that Toledo Bend trip next year.
  16. A 10lber and a horny toad in the boat! Lucky Man! GO BIG RED
  17. I've never fished the Chorarch, my assumption more $$$ better reel. However I have 2 curado's, 200dhsv and a 100dsv. I love them I also have a Citica that is about a $80 less than the Curado's and it is probably the best dollar value in my boat. For what it's worth. GO BIG RED
  18. All I can say is that snake is another good reason to own a boat!! Nice Fish. GO BIG RED
  19. Little Fishies, white, blue, chartruse. Swimming Minnows, same colors Small Rattle Traps Rapala Shad Raps
  20. I have a buddy who has one and uses it often. I have to say I laugh at him everytime but it seems to work. No gators in Nebraska however. GO BIG RED
  21. Just wanted to throw out a new name you might want to consider. I was recently at Lake Fork where I had the pleasure to meet Mike Picou a local who is on the pro staff of Hendrix Rods. Evedintly we looked dazed and confused and Mike was kind enough to put us on fish and allow us to trail him for several hours as he pre-fished a tourney. When I got I home I emailed to thank him and started asking questions in regard to rods and reel match up for specific applications. He put me in touch with Mike Hendrix who asked alot of questions and then made a rod recommendation. I've never dealt with a more personal, caring individual in tackle purchasing. I love the Rod and ready to order my next. Just another option you might want to research. www.hendrixrods.com GO BIG RED P.S. Mike personally called me after I fished the rod to make sure I was happy!
  22. In our state the DNR offers Boating Courses, a friend just took one and thought it was worth while. GO Big RED
  23. I have a Lowrance 510C on the and a 52 on my dash. The 510 is pretty because of the color and more expensive. The 52 works very well for under 200. GO BIG RED
  24. I love the hunt. The planning the purchasing and then when the stars and the moons line up and a plan comes together, the thump, thump, thump, the slide of the line, the load up and then the big jerk over the shoulder. Then as Kelley put it the release to start the whole process all over again. Ain't nothing better than that. GO BIG RED
  25. My buddy just bought a Shimano Symetra with a 7' rod combo from Cabela's on sale for $130. He used it for his light setup on our trip this week and loved it. GO BIG RED
