  1. won’t matter. She was genetically formulated better than the Internet for pointing out personality flaws.
  2. I can’t post what my wife says in place of that here.
  3. I noticed when watching Milliken fishing that he regularly uses electronics when sitting on a dock or last winter while ice fishing. I’m not a boat guy and know hardly anything about current electronics. I expected to get into that many years down the line (pun intended) when I retire and get a bass boat. Trust me, my wife is all for it ?Anyone know what type of system that is? Or something similar. What it costs?
  4. These are very fishable rods. I use them every now and then. Extremely tough rods with great components for the price. Yes. The Shimano crucial is a much better rod. It is lighter, thinner and waaaay more sensitive especially with braid. Yet it possesses a much lower ratio of ugly stik rubberyness.
  5. Good point. It’s a tough call between rod and reel. The reel can break the possibility of throwing light because we’re probably talking only fishing 1 oz or less. I’d recommend, if money is an issue, to get a reel capable of throwing light. Then get a lighter rod for lighter baits and a heavier rod for heavier baits. I’d also say get an extra shallow spool for the reel. Then you can swap spools and make it more versatile for about $30-35 more, instead of getting two reels that cost $200 each. Decent rods can be had cheaper than decent reels, IMO.
  6. Thank you to everyone that can admit the pros are better at it. There’s no doubt they are. As far as success, not just in fishing, but in anything, goes—I have noticed the one thing that makes the most successful people the most successful. They usually have a natural ability to know when to take the advice of others. Whether it is in their business dealings, medical treatment or in fishing. That ability is the one in my opinion. To do that, you have to remain open to new things at all times. If something works better, it’s worth doing. The biggest obstacle for most people is doing things their own way when there are other ways that might be better. It’s not easy to do something differently, after doing it how you’ve been doing it. Especially if you’ve been doing it that way for a very long time.
  7. Just wanted to thank everyone for helping me with my problem. The one where I needed more fishing stuff. Now I have to wait for everything to arrive. I was away for a while not thinking about fishing, busy with other things. Then saw the Curado BFS ad. Then visited this site. It’s like going to an AA meeting inside of a bar.
  8. Better than hospital bills and an injury + everything else.
  9. Yeah, thanks. Baitmonkeys. I was saying the same thing about silent. Because if I throw anything with a rattle in it, 200’ past a fish, as soon as it starts rattling, the fish looks over towards it then looks over to me and rolls it’s eyes.
  10. You guys suck. I ordered 2, plus a 6th Sense Gilliken crank bait, and a LC Pointer 95, since I already won’t need to buy anything new to make it through this season, and maybe even the next season or 2. Because of all the bad influences on this site.
  11. Yeah, well I have one of those plastic tubs (which I found out my wife bought when I couldnt find my stuff to take inventory of what I need) the ones with the lid that people put under the bed that’s like 4ft x 2ft x 4 or 5in and it is full of stuff. Most still unopened. Because I was too busy to fish last season. So I don’t expect to buy much more. Since I won’t be buying much this season, because of the people on this website causing me to already buy more stuff than I could use in one season, I ordered 2 Megabass 110’s, instead.
  12. Been a while since I had one of these apart, but I believe that this happens when the (I don’t know the proper name of the part) little foot that kicks the thumb bar up does not travel in a straight line. It’s a PITA, but either too much grease in the reel around that part or the (I also don’t know the proper part name) little tension spring that is V shaped with a circle at the point of the V is damaged or not properly seated, possibly installed backwards. It can be fixed. No, I am not saying that it was installed wrong by you or someone that serviced the reel. Some of these ABU reels come like that from the factory. These are also the most likely improperly reinstalled parts on these reels, which are often sold “new” on auction sites after being torn down and reassembled. Actually based on this Revo SX third gen schematic the parts are the “Kick Lever” and “Kick Lever Spring”
  13. Had an underground sewage leak into a lake around here once. Started out with a few fish like that. Eventually almost everything in the water died. 20-25 years ago. Still never recovered all these years later. Except for the giant carp that people later added to the water.
  14. I don’t upgrade. Either I identify something that could be done better with different gear or something (like the new Curado BFS) just catches my eye and I have to have it. I hadn’t thought a single second about fishing, then the CBFS pops up in my feed and I am sitting here can’t wait to get out to test it out.
  15. It’s either the Loch Ness or Bigfoot searching for carp.
  16. Penn, Daiwa, Avet, Shimano, Abu Garcia. I have never had a problem with any reel that spontaneously occurred. The only reels that have ever failed on me were reels from China in the $17.00 to $22.00 range. I order these just to mess around with them. I can’t think of any reputable brand reel that has ever failed me, except a few extremely cheap Shakespeare reels that I fished to death, until I realized the plastic spinning reel spools were really compressed saw dust coated in a plastic like paint enamel. The spools either swelled, warped or cracked. These were $20 combos, I got and fished to death just to play around.
  17. Very rare for me to not throw at least a few casts with a crank bait. They work the best for me overall.
  18. Nothing. I keep fishing.
  19. Thank god no one ever took such a well thought out approach to explaining why I should smoke some crack. The place I’m planning on using such a lure would be open water with no likelihood of bouncing into or off of anything. And that makes the problem worse.
  20. I wouldn’t joke about it. I don’t get along with guys that go around waving knives in peoples faces in crowded fishing spots. The situation would have been worse if my wife wasn’t about to give birth any day and I didn’t want to be in jail when she did.
  21. It’s hard to read stuff like this. After looking at a big box full of stuff that isn’t even opened from last year, I cannot, will not, drop $30 on a single stick bait. I can’t. Feels the same as if I was going to drop $500 on a rod. I won’t. Once an eye pops off, and a hook straightens, like they do on the dark sleeper, it feels the same as it would to have a $500 rod blow up on a hook set. But the information here is very compelling me to get a few of these.
  22. If the worm thing bothers you, the abec rated bearings from smooth drag have worked great for me. They are pretty pricey, but very worth it for smooth quiet operation. I prefer these for this location because, I can’t say why, they just require less maintenance. I hate popping the C clip on and off the worms of my reels.
  23. Sounds like normal behavior to me.
  24. Fresh mixed tartar sauce and squeezed lemon. And a side of home made fries. But I really only eat fish as a sandwich. It is always fried fish, a squeeze of fresh lemon, a slice or two of American cheese that sat at room temperature and a tablespoon or so of tartar sauce on a martins potato hamburger bun. Saltwater fish only.
