  1. Pulled the trigger today after weeks of debating which rod to buy. And my first quality rod is ....... a ....... G Loomis IMX MBR843 as my all purpose rod. Oh, happy day. Can't wait to try it out this weekend!! I handled a few Loomis models paired with my reel and this one seemed to have the best feel for me. Also, where I fish, there is not much heavy cover so I opted for the 3 instead of 4 power. Thanks to the forum guys who gave me valuable information and helped me with my decision. I am psyched!!
  2. Hey Catt. Interesting that you would choose the BCR rod for the casting competition. I haven't experienced it first hand but heard the taper takes a little getting used to. You like that rod, say over a loomis mbr? If you can, could you say why you are choosing that particular rod?
  3. That is too friggin' funny. I'm on that plan also......Quit Jan 1 and a Steez combo is my reward to myself after 1 year of not smoking....next New Year's. I even have the red Abu Garcia.... But I got a long way to go, I smoked about a pack a day and I already have a few nice combos. Wait a second....am I your fishing buddy??
  4. The rod prices are in the ballpark of the GLX Loomis rods actually so I'd say there is a market for this high end stuff. Me, personally.I'd like to get me one of those set ups. I went thru college with a red Abu 5000-c baitcaster on a 2 piece Rhino spinning rod(fished the rod upside down) so I like to think I paid my dues..The Steez combos are cutting edge in terms of technology and I think it would be awesome to experience fishing with one of those for the rest of my life. By the way, caught a bunch of fish with my college rod as there were a few ponds on campus and hardly anyone fished them. I think Ish Monroe uses some of the Steez line. I'm sure the Daiwa sponsored folks have a few in their arsenal.
  5. I'm really interested in the Steez combo.something about a 10oz combo really is appealing. Which size rods did you get to handle? They had the 6 7' model at Bass Pro and it felt really good. That rod was there for like 2 days and then someone scooped it up.
  6. 2.5' Scooby Doo Combo, Neon Green. 8-) Haven't caught crap with it but it's my favorite. ;D
  7. MBR844 sounds real good to me. Getting a GLX would use up all my gift cards but hey, you only live once and they'll be more birthdays, christmas-es, anniversaries ..... for more gift cards ...... to buy more fishing gear. d**n that monkey to hell. I gotta use my BPS inshore rods for something......and they are not bad rods for their purpose. What reel do you guys have on your 844s?? I'll probably put a lighter reel on it.....at some point. Maybe. Thanks for the responses....
  8. Oh, and I use 14pd test hybrid pretty much all the time. So...you guys like the heavy vs med heavy?? The 4 isn't too stiff??
  9. Thanks RoadWarrior. Actually, I already have the reel and it is a muti species/multi environment reel.the TD Luna 253. It handles senkos just fine and the lowest it can go is about ¼ oz. Probably more comparable to a 300 line of Shimano though. I do love that reel and it does real good in saltwater too. Not using the Loomis in saltwater thoughI have BPS rods for that.
  10. Hey Loomis Posse. There seem to be a bunch of Loomis aficionados on this board so am needing some input. Looking at getting an IMX or splurge for the GLX and this will be my first Loomis. I've seen a few different models of rods that people likethe MBRs, the BCRs, with different actions M-2, MH-3, H-4. If I want a good plastics/all around set up with a heavier baitcaster (14lb/195yds), what would be a good model to get?? Obviously, would probably use this set up the most. Thnx
  11. Thanks. Checked it out and does seem that it is possible to go finesse with this reel....berry, berry interesting. Any Steez owners have any reel world experience? Reel, real .... I crack myself up.
  12. How light can you go with the Steez baitcaster?? Wondering if you can toss light/finesse lures with it....I hope to get one in the summer. Thanks
  13. Congrats man. Hey, I wanna join the Loomis posse too. 8-) I'm leaning towards getting my first Loomis at the BPS Spring Fishing Classic in about 3 weeks. I can almost afford an IMX rod .... MBR783C sounds reeeal good.
  14. Dang, messes up my plans of getting a Curado. Thanks for the heads up.
  15. The debate continues....I have quite a few BPS rods and getting a bionic blade for a spinning outfit this year. Luv them for their purposes. BUT.....I'm also gonna get a higher end rod this year to experience what a quality rod is all about. If you go to BPS pick up an extreme rod for example, then go over and feel a higher end Loomis. You will notice the change in weight right off the bat. That doesn't even account for other differences in components. Either way, you can catch a bass. They don't know if you are fishing with BPS gear, Walmart gear or a Loomis. It is personal preference on how you wanna fish.....
  16. Yep, no disclaimer on the flyer.....like not including or except Shimano. They gotta say it on there for it to be true.....don't ya think?
  17. Thanks for the welcome....great forums. Hey Catt, if it does get published in a sales paper or advertisement, please post here. I live in NC so no Academys around but BPS matches prices on advertised stuff. Thanks
  18. I signed up as a member just to ask...... :-?say what?? Are you saying they are on sale? If so, can you post a link or give some more info as to where. Gonna be getting a Crucial very soon...... Thanks
