  1. I used a Falcon Jason christy cranking rod for a while and it was a good stick. I think they’re around $90 and you can usually find them at your local neighborhood Walmart if you want to handle it in person first.
  2. Before I bought a bunch more rods, in a pinch I used my 733 for squarebills and my 735 for deep divers when I needed to. Worked just fine.
  3. I got the diablo spec-r and the perfect pitch the week the new levantes came out. I haven’t had a whole lot of experience with either one yet but from what I’ve seen so far I really like both of them.
  4. Exactly. I back my fluoro with the zebco line too, I’m not spooling any of my reels when I cast. No reason to put a whole 150-200 yards on a reel. Saves me money.
  5. This. It’s all I’ve used for backing since I found it. 600 yard spool for $4 at Walmart. Yes please.
  6. Lovvvvvveeeeeee that sound!
  7. Man all this thread has shown me is that I need more spinning setups..... But currently I have 15 casting setups and 3 spinning that see regular use. I have another spinning that I don’t like so it sits in the corner.
  8. Yes and no. I used to but last summer I started using the g2 worm sleeves I think they’re called and found them much superior to anything else I had tried
  9. I had one of these when I first got started. It served me well for just starting out, I caught fish on it. If I recall the only thing that went wrong with mine was the foam piece on the forenut came off when I was tightening down a reel. It would slide up and down the rod when you casted or moved and got really annoying so watch out for that.
  10. I use these quite a bit too and love them. Much preferred to the wire weed guard type.
  11. I don’t know about wacky, I’ve only ever really done senkos and trick worms. However, I did catch a few last year on neko rigged craws. I saw an article about it somewhere and got curious so I tried it and it actually works fairly well. Not something I’d do all the time but was fun for a change of pace.
  12. I covet one now lol. I can’t wait to get my hands on one, or four.....
  13. I have a couple of Zodias rods I got recently. So far I really like them, crazy light and sensitive for the price point. I haven’t fished them enough to tell you I’m really really in love with them yet but I think that’s where I’ll land. My one gripe so far is the handle on the casting models is a little slim for me. The handles on the spinning models are perfect though.
  14. That looks pretty sweet, I wonder how pricey it’s going to be?
  15. For an all around rod you’d want more like a medium or medium heavy.
  16. Casting- my Zillion Sv Tw. Although I think the new Steez Sv I got will be taking its place soon. Just haven’t gotten to use it much yet. Spinning- JDM Daiwa Exist 2003H, hands down smoothest, nicest, best drag reel I’ve ever used. I have stradics and others but nothing compares. Got it during the TW Christmas sale for half of what they normally are and do not regret what I paid one bit.
  17. Also, once you’ve got the hook going through it, it’s not moving anymore anyways.
  18. I have not used one or even heard anything about them yet. But I’m not gonna lie, I saw that same picture somewhere and immediately started thinking about buying one lol.
  19. Its amazing for Ned rigs, that’s the majority of what I’ve used it for so far. I’ve only had it a couple months and the weather hasn’t been very cooperative lately. I’ve also thrown some micro jigs on it, and grubs on a light ballhead. I was thinking about maybe trying a light split shot rig tomorrow if the weather does what it’s supposed to. I have it paired with a 2000 size Daiwa Exist I got off the tackle warehouse Christmas sale for like half price. Great combo, silky smooth, and super fun when these guys choke it and start peeling drag!
  20. I have 3 of the newer ones and they’re great rods. I love them.
  21. I have the 6’10” ML/XF and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite rods. I never used spinning gear that much until I got this rod, very very nice rod for the price.
  22. Great budget rod for frogs, heavier pitching/punching and stuff. I had one for a good long while. I’ve since upgraded my arsenal but I still have both my 733c and 735c sitting on the rack just in case I ever need them.
  23. Looks pretty sweet. I have a regular SLX and it casts way better than a $100 reel should. With the refined braking and Mgl spool you should be able use this one with a range of baits, not just the heavier stuff. I like.
